Roy Keane says No to Mido

Mido's agent, Mino Raiola, has been working overtime to find the Egyptian target-man a new club after Martin Jol opened the door to his departure from Tottenham.


Sunderland, Birmingham, West Ham & Bolton are among the clubs Raiola has been targeting. Out of the four above mentioned teams, only Birmingham have made it clear that they would be interested.


When asked what Roy Keane's views were on Mido, the Sunderland manager simply replied; "I think he's fairly talented, but talent exceeds what you can do with the ball."


He later went on to add; "A footballer must prove that he is professional twenty-four hours a day and not just when he's playing."


I have to agree with the former Republic of Ireland captain. Mido can be a great footballer. We all know that 'Can Be's' and 'Are Currently Great' are two completely different things.


Whilst injured, he gained weight, looked sluggish and disinterested. Those characteristics shouldn't be a part of a professional footballers make-up. It's a shame that Mido is the way he is.


What isn't a shame, is the reported £4 million we'll be getting from Birmingham, according to the Daily Mail.

    was good when he was on loan, but not been the same player since we signed him, no player is bigger than the club and we dont need the attitude that he brings
  2. Was undeniably useful in helping us finish 5th the season before last, especially at home. Provided a much needed quality target man ahead of Rasiak. However has always had an attitude problem.

    Lost too much weight last pre seaon in my opinion and became ineffective. Still has a lot to offer but if we can get £4m based on last seasons form then its good business
  3. I think that unless we can get someone like Silva or Owen in, then we should give a chance pre-season and the first few games to see if he can recapture the form he had on loan. Pheraps a big reality check from BMJ could change his attitude and prove he wants to play for the club. Can't believe that he'd want to waste the opportunity to play for a big club like Spurs. On current form, he won't get an opprtunity to play for a big club like ours again

  5. i think he should stay! i luv mido and everything he brought to the club! so he had an off season, how can you blame him when jol kept using his stupid rotation system. players will loose there confidence if they dont continually play. I think he should stay and fight for his place and get rid of jermaine defoe! jol could play keane, berb & mido in every game.

    Aint trying to be funny but the guy is utter rubbish, was always a stopgap until somebody like Berbatov came in. Then we had all the saga last season then we bought him and he has been as effective as a cheese grater with no holes, lets sell him and a few others to!!!

    Yes ,that stupid rotation system that got us into semis of uefa,5th in the league etc.your right - it was stupid

  8. Everyone seems to know something about Mido. I only know that he played very well for us in his first season, and I don't think we've seen the best of him. It would be a great pity to let him go before we do, but if he really is the problem that everyone says he is, he's gotta go.
    Still, it seems like only yesterday that he scored two goals on his debut for us, something only a handful of Spurs greats have done. I'd love it if something was sorted out with him.

  11. my grandmother can kick a ball better than him. That fat waste of space. He desrves a 500 pounds a week wages. ALL his goals are fluke
  12. Mido was injured for a while last season. He was not given enough time to prove himself again after he recovered. But the main problem is that he got lazier when not selected by Jol.
    I remember he didn't miss a header when used as a target man. I think with a change of attitude he will be back even better.

    Will be a very happy man if i see him at WHL next season
  13. Be careful guys ... I remember a few similar comments made about Freddie Kanoute when he wasn't playing too well. Who wouldn't take him back now ?
  14. I must say I think it amusing and hypocritical of ROY KEANE to comment on footballers being professional 24 hrs a day...

    What, like you Roy? Down some backstreet pub in Manchester til the wee hours getting pi55ed as a newt, professional like that? Or on the pitch taking out players (and their careers) in pre-meditated revenge acts years after they injured you?

    Mido is no saint, sure, and we'd like him to go. But cut the BS Roy!!!
