Why We Are Spurs Fans
By Molly
New Signings, come and play for the badge. It’s interesting seeing the excitement that our bid for Baptista has stirred up.
I am of the opinion that anyone who says that they supported Spurs as a boy would know what sacrilege it would be to then consider playing for the "armpit". Judas Campbell aside obviously.
Now I would love to get this player but in the most likely event that it doesn’t happen I would like us all to think about a few things.
We have signed a lot of players recently but whether they are all world class leaves plenty of room for debate. The likes of Tainio, Stalteri, Huddlestone, Lennon and Routledge probably wouldn't get into the "Chelsh!t" squad but I get the impression that they all wanted to come to Tottenham and play for us, not the cash particularly.
Paul Robinson is living proof that we are still up there with the biggest and best and we should remember that. Give me eleven players who know what it truly means to wear the badge and play football with the words "Audere-est-Facere" tattooed in their brains as opposed to eleven so called superstars any day.
The "Sugar Years" have left us somewhat shell shocked and burdened with an ongoing bought of amnesia.
"WE ARE TOTTENHAM F%$#*!G HOTSPUR" and it’s enough to make your heart go waaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh.
Before Venables lost his bananas we were always in for all the top players and got em as well.
Too many Monday morning slatings from our mates at work over underachievement have dulled our belief in who we truly are. We are Tottenham, super Tottenham. The first to bring home a European trophy. The first team to do the double. Signing Greaves for £99.999.99 back in the day when that was equal to a million quid.
We created the template for a style of play that everyone is trying to do these days. Hoddle, Ardiles, Villa, Waddle, Lineker, Gazza, Klinsmann. If Baptista is for real then he should sign on the dotted line no worries, but if he isn't then so what.
If all of us start believing and remembering who we are than that will lift all our boys and they will play like they are world class. You all know what White Hart Lane can do to a player’s ego when we aren't sulking and only cheering. There isn't a place like the Lane.
There will never be another team like the Spurs. Our tradition and history is second to none only equal with others. When a player of real quality comes up and wants to play for us we will get him, it's as simple as that. It may take some time but if he wants to come to us it will happen.
I see a lot of moaning towards Levy for not making the signings that we all crave but I say to you this, would you rather someone come to us because of the pay packet or the challenge to makes us greater than we are?
Oh, I really should have mentioned Tony Galvin just so that our new wingers have some kind of guideline for getting to the byline and ball into box.
Chew on this lot.

It strikes me that the players Spurs now chase are too young to recall these times.
Case in point, he may claim he is a fan, but Julio Baptista was born in 1981, when Ricky Villa was busy undressing the Man City defence.
Let's face it. We ain't been tha shit for 25 years now.
I'm not too sure WHL is the draw it once was. No CL, no UEFA, not even Inter-Toto!
Don't get me wrong, I think the club is finally back on the right track, but I get why a young player like Baptista might bypass Spurs for a so-called "Top-4" team (ie. ManU, Gooners, Chelski, or L'pool)
Still, I too continue to see Tottenham as a "big" club, but not holding my breath that today's player shares my sentiments.
If it is Molloy, then we'll change it if Molly/Molloy asks us to
It's no longer a game, but a business, where a player has a limited amount of time for which to earn his retirement cheques.
Spurs have got to pay the market price for quality. That's only fair. Baptista needs to be shown just that.
This isnt going to happen and if it does I am not sure I would be too pleased. We have enough firepower now anyway. We are not Chelsea so lets spend our money wisely and where it is needed, in the middle.
I am convinced this is the club forcing Arsenal's hand to give them more money. Nothing more.
...and I dont mind them doing that if that odious lot have to shell out a few million more.
And on this thread....I agree players dont play for loyalty or love of a club....look at Chelsea, a few years ago pulling in crowds of <20K playing in a shithole of a ground whose only cups in the cupboard were ones used by the tealady. Money talks when you get to the type of money on offer these days, every player has his price. As we all do.
The first phase has passed and we are moving into the next phase which means some expensive players.
Don't be fooled by our very shrewd chairman...read my lips.... MONEY IS NOT PROBLEM AT WHITE HART LANE.
One season ago, he was claiming that we would not be in the market for 10mil and above players.See what happen now ? He also claim that we cannot keep spending money in the transfer market. All this are smoke screen my friends, preventing the market from raiding our piggy bank dry. That's intelligent thats good management...keeping everyone in the dark including the fans till the right moment.
But this Baptista looks like he's gonna cut it in the EPL. I dont think we can survive another Rebrov.
COMON U SPURS
This bid for Baptista is deliberate and calculated, with a stronger management team in place. They have come up with the sums.
With people like carrick to feed him, and people like defoe for him to look for, he will rip teams appart. Its all about pace in the premiership and now we've got it. He is a bit short though.
Fucking dwarf.
Fucking dwarf.
What first phase? You mean the last half of last season? For God's sake give the kids some time to develop. No quick fixes. Picking up inexpensive but young talented English players who have potential has been the policy that is a departure from past thinking at WHL .. and don't mess with it cuz it appears 2 b working.. that is if a few impatient yids can grab some perspective and strap themselves in for a fun ride -- one that may take a year or two to stat bearing fruit. RElax and enjoy it.
Scum are on the down, Spurs are on the up.
Savour it.
They know what they are doing and so do Jol who have mentioned that he wants players who can take the team to the next level THIS season.
Don't think like a certain Mr Hoddle and have "hopeful" 5 years plans...sometimes you must balance patience with some sense of urgency or the world would whiz past you.Ok ?
Granted near on £14M is a lot especially as we already have 4 strikers who are nipping in with pre-season goals. So will Mido's loan be cut short, will Robbie or Fredi be moving on? You would think that one would. If it is one of the latter then we will recoup £5-6M therefore Baptista will be costing £7M. The going rate at the moment? Yakubu £7M, Bellamy £5M, Crouch touted at £7M.
Jolly and Levy are too shrewd to simply waste money and would have looked into this in detail.
Lets also hope that we get the classy midfielder that we have been crying out for. Sell Fredi (£5M) and bring in Baptista and Guti for a that money + £13M. Good buiness if you ask me. And if they can si…
Carl.
Is Baptista (or any other big money signing) going to make, say, Reto Zeigler any more experienced this year? No. That's my point. Unless your last name rhymes with Go-ram-your-bitch, there are no fast fixes or free passes to the next level. The one thing the young lads Spurs have just finished assembling now need is time to develop -- both individualy and as a cohesive team...and no big-money signings will give them that.
Get behind them and have faith in their latest bidding even their mistakes at times...They have on the whole given us something to hope for.
Even if it doesn't suit your "strategic" thinking you have to trust this men who run the club day to day.Unless you can claim to have run a football team or own a business successfully.
At any rate, you've already indicated how you are so blindly willing to agree with Levy & co in any event.
BTW, if that's the case, why blog? We don't all have to agree here. Isn't that the point?
You want to lift up the curtain to reveal the wizard and spoil all the fun?
To previous comments. I was not knocking the young players at all. I rate Zeigler, Carrick etc, I am glad with what has been done. But how can you say that Baptista & Guti would be quick fixes? Granted they have not experianced the PL but we have to trust the managments judgement. As previosuly stated Baptista 50 goals in 2 seasons and Guti experianced at every level. Hardly quick fixes.
We need european experiance alongside the youth to change the dimension of our play. I am not knocking the youngsters and truly believe they will play their part in good times ahead.
Rack.
Baptista will make us good for 3rd or 4th in the league.
Need cover for left back though.
I dont think I am being too optimistic. Our second team is probably better than MU, Arse and Pool. 38 matches is a long journey. Injuries to some key players are inevitable, especially when these teams are also in Europe. Spurs will just need to keep on improving and maintain the excellent team morale.
1.42
I think their confidence will grow immensly with victories and I think Jol knows how to keep their heads up in defeat.
They are all playing for each other.
Left back? Edmans ok and Zeigler can play there.
Rack
How annoying
I would like someone like Guti to say "Yes theres serious talent there. I want to go there with my experiance and help them acheive what they are capable of". Surely that would be more satisfying personally than going to an also run in the CL.
Then again thats just me being optimistic.
Rack
Happy up front.... KEANE has to stay, genius/ legend. IF someone has to go let it be Mido.
karate yid
karate yid
Robbo is a fucking legend
ANY OTHER CLUB WE CAN COMPLETE WITH THERE IS NO REASON WHY WE SHOULD NOT BE THE FIFTH BIG CLUB, WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BIGGER THAN CHELSEA UNTIL THE MONEY CAME ALONG, BUT WE MUST GET INTO EUROPE THIS YEAR OR RISK FALLING FURTHER BEHING THE TOP 4.
WHAT DO YOU THINK
Sorry peeps im only joking.
Anyway are Liverpool that much better? I know they are european champs but in the league they were toilet. They have signed players granted but they are way off the top 3. Didn't they lose 14 league games last year? The same as us. Bolton only lost 12 and Boro 11.
We are in there with those teams and I honestly believe we can finish higher than all of them.
Rack

Imagine what Spurs' income would be like if we get to CL. We need a bigger stadium too.
the long haired freak.
And he's a dwarf
I was told that Baptista is as big as Heskey but that's where the similarity ends. He's more pacey and agile and with that typical Brazilian flair and skill to boot. I hope he creates goals for others too.
Bring on the beast please!
To Anonymouse at 4.47.
I think you are right about the rich list except for Man City who were 17th. How they managed that what with being £64M in debt beggars belief.
I aggreed that Europe would push up the list especially with our fan base.
Rack
We have TWO superb Keepers Cerny is 4th best Keeper in the prem behind Robo Chech and Given, we have 3 great centr backs King Huddlestone and Dawson, (Naybet as coover) Staltiri Left back with Zeigler and Edman as cover kelly, Ifil at right back both young and improving also have Defendi.
Lenno…
Eric again
As I have said before we are nearly there and will only get better.
Rack.
Anyway isn't Baptista an american wrestler. I've just see him advertised on TV.
Ok that ones over. Who else do we want???
Rack.
We know what happened next, Barcelona snapped him up a year later for cheaps.
If we dont do anything about Baptista, he will go to Milan or Chelski next year.
Thank god we wont be linked with him any more!
heard it here first
JB
we let that streak of piss go already, he hasn't improved one bit.
he'll b dog shit next year.
the big spot
Lets Hope the Beast can be unleased for the Spurs.
Rack.
Notice it isnt on Skysports yet!!
Friend of a friend and all that
JB
I LOVE THE CLUB, I LOVE OUR HISTORY AND I LOVE OUR FUTURE, IM SO HAPPY I BECAME A SPURS FAN ALL THOSE YEARS AGO, IM NOT EVEN FROM LONDON, I HAD NO IDEA WHO THEY WERE UNTIL BACK IN THE DAY AS A SMALL BOY I TURNED ON THE TV TO SEE A MAN CALLED GLENN HODDLE AND RICKY VILLA AND ANOTHER GUY CALLED OSSIE ARDILLES PLAY LIKE THERE WAS NO TOMMOROW, ID NEVER HEARD WORDS USED TO DESCRIBE HOW THEY PLAYED BEFORE, I WAS WIDE EYED AND LOVING IT, MY FAITH AND LOVE WAS CEMENTED WHEN LATER ON I SAW THE OLD BOY OSSIE IN ESCAPE TO VICTORY, DOING THE "OSSIE ARDILLES" TRICK TO A GERRY AND WE WON THE CUP, LITTLE DID I KNOW THE BOY WAS AN ARGIE!!!!
MY FAITH AND LOVE WOULD THEN NEVER WAVER IN THE TOTTENHAM!!
IT WAS FATE FOR ME TO FIND MY CLUB, LIKE MANY OF US APART FROM TRADITION AND LOCALS OF COURSE, I COULD NEVER SEE MYSELF LOVING ANOTHER TEAM, I REMEMBER AS A KID SEEING FRIENDS TURN FROM ONE TEAM TO ANOTHER "GLORY SUPPORTERS"! BUT I DIDNT NEED TO, GAZZA,LINEKAR,NAYIM…
Don Levy will need to offer Baptista 55k per week.
If he's world class then he's worth it. He's built for the EPL.
Maybe Marti could bring him in and help mould Tainio and Hamdoui into super AMs.
Last year i was moderately excited, we'd got rid of pleat, got in a decent DOF and had Tackleberry from police acedmy in charge, oh and some dutch fella coaching!
This year i cannot wait for the season to begin!
Martin Jol is like Elvis, everyone loves him!
When Santini pissed off back across the Channel MJ made some pretty big statements! Namely he'd like to bring back the glory of Bill Nic!
I honestly believe with the squad we've got plus a couple of extras we could actually be a serious threat to not just a UEFA cup place but to Champions league spots!
If MJ gets us to the promise dland i'll get his face tattooed on my arse cheek!
I love that Dutch bulldog!
Yeah i heard that about you
Dwarf.
We dont even need another striker, attacking midfielders are on the menu not someone who`s gonna cost a bomb and who after a couple on month`s gonna start moaning about the weather, food and no european football.
we`ll end up loosing money again and be back to square one.
im sick of this kind a shit, we`re starting something good, right players for the right position`s, how hard can it be.
fuck it.....
Mendes,Davis and Brown are rubbish
stop being a cock
he has 50 in two seasons
not a one season wonder, he started as a centre mid, then an attackin mid, then a striker.
HE IS THE MIDFIELDER WE SO BADLY DESIRE!!!
Plus the news that he signs for us might buck up kanoutes and Mido's ideas, you never know others might be more keen to sign... And most of all the fans will be happy, we get our man and P**S Arsenal off BIG time........
Can I wake up now.. to dare is to do
The futures bright the futures BLUE & WHITE
Eric from a family of Spurs fans since 1907
He is strong, good in the air and on the deck. He's an international.
Face it if he comes it will be a coup. And people on here are saying lets sign big stars... Newsflash we aren't in the business of signing the Shevchenkos of this world.
But Baptista may be the link that gets us to the next level..Europe.
And with Europe comes....yes the players.
Rack.
mido could be our next martin chivers, carrick our stevie perryman robbo our pat jennings, routledge is martin peters in disguise and we are going places....bring on the beast
Dawson and King weren't playing, Zeigler wasn't playing, staltieri wasn't playing. The temperature is nothing like the prem, this is pre season we are getting fit.
God some people know nothing about football do they.
We have the youngest team in the prem, the most debutants last year and even though Santini led us to 6 straight defeats we nearly qualified for Europe.
I keep saying it but we were robbed 2 points at Old Trafford, we did the double over Everton, Liverpool couldn't beat us in the league, along with Man U we were the only teams to put 4 past Arse scum.
Liverpool are going to have a very long season, started already, Everton haven't got enough depth to do well in Europe and the Prem, we will be better than last season and think the 4th spot is ours for the taking with the addition of the new players it's almost a cert.
The futures bright the futures BLUE & WHITE
…
Well Said.
Rack.
To succed in Europe we need players used to European football, Tianio, Staltieri and and and The BEAST, how many English strikers succeed abroad compared to how many foreignrs succeed in England I think he is built to succeed in England
Eric again!!!
Spurs are one of only a few pl clubs who are financialy sound baptista won't dent the bank balance.i'm gonna buy twenty shirts this year .iLOVE SPURS
I don't think Mr Lampard scored scored that many.
If it comes off I think we will be applauding it.
Eric is right. The talent is there for everyone to see we just need a little bit fine tuning. I said earlier Jol & Levy aren't in the business of wasting money. It isn't in their's, ours or the clubs interest.
Once again back them.
Rack.
Like I say we sign him on a pre contract so he comes next season, works out cheaper and will give our strikers a kick up the backsdide they need, I don't want Defoe to leave but if we have a replacement lined up great, if he stays then we have Mido's replacement after his loan finishes, also this season Barnard etc get chance in League cup and as substitues.
Explain why we can't get champions league....
All we have to do is improve slightly...
In London Derby's for a start, i've said it before but last season 0-0 draw with Norwich two draws with West Brom, losing 1-0 to Southampton, Aston Villa (we proved we shouldn't lose to these) drawing and losing to Palace, losing 1-0 to Birmingham and Middlesborough. losing to Charlton, we can improve on these performances and like I say I think Everton and Liverpool are going to suffer because of injuries and tiredness from a long season.
We have improved our squad from last season, liverpool have…
We scored 3 and created how many chances on Monday.....
Routledge, Lennon, Reid, Carrick Tianio.... thats who will create or even Robo with his huge kicks, to win things you need a proven goal scorer, United never won anything without having a 20 goal a season man, who has finished in the top 2 for the last 5 seasons.... I hate to mention them but they have had strikers who know how to find the back of the net Kanu, Wiltord Anelka and Henry. Like I say we develop this year and the Beast comes next year... NO PROBLEM
Eric
p.s. thanks for the support Rack
I hope that people realise that I like all of you hope for success and we are going in the right direction. I am just saying that that little extra isn't a bad thing.
Rack.
Kanoute though is a different case. He is so bloody frustrating. He has talent there no doubt about it but the stupid bugger can't turn it on consistently enough.
Rack.
Kanoute on the hand needs to up his game if he wants to stay at the lane, One good game when he feels like it is no good to us.
I HATE 'EM
I am sure it will happen and we must all push for success together. Lets back MJ and DL.
This has been a good chat today.Hopefully can resume it.
Rack.
Spursdaddy, Eric and myself all want to see Baptista sign for us.
We are with you on this not against you.
Rack
I too like Sneijder however I think the cost is likely to be sky high. I doubt that Ajax would sell anyway.
The same goes for Rafael Van der Vaart.
Still these two players are the kind that I would like to see Spurs bidding for.
Still as you will see from our previous posts we all feel the squad is nearly there and just needs that slight injection of world class to really bring out the potential.
Rack.
Hey dont shoot me if im wrong, jus tryin to help!
I love THFC
Ajax are rebuilding the squad and have sold Rafael van der Vaart to German club Hamburg for 6.6 million Euro's.
Westley Sneijder is also available. Jol has gone on record and said that he would like the player at the club.
Watch this space
Keane would need to go if Baptista was to sign. Leeds stopped paying Keanes wages when they got relegated. Levy stopped that as a sign of good will towards them going bankrupt.
I have a little feeling that someone with a bit of sense talked Robo into signing a 7 year deal i'm sure they put a sweetner in their just to make a BIG point straight after F.A. defected, it helps when we approach someone and they say "Look your director of football has left" we reply Yes but Englands best goalkeeper has signed a SEVEN year extension"
Has anybody thought about Beta at lisbon, I watched some of the game against Chelski and he looked mint, He has played defensive central and attacking midfield, great vision and versatility.
The Beast has a bit of that as well,…
Cheers!

If we do get Baptista, then expect another signing (not a big name) to join also, but an older more experienced player.
I strongly feel that we should go in for Westley Sneijder. If any of you have seen him play, you will understand why I admire him so much.
Some players were born to play for Spurs, e.g. Waddle, Hoddle, Ardiles, Klinsmann, Ginola, etc.
Westley is one of them.
I heard a rumour that his house has been specialy fitted with steps to help him reach the sink. He's also got one of them childrens urinals in his toilet

12:42 has a fetish for cock, an obsession
The England Under-21 international has emerged as a top target for Canaries boss Nigel Worthington as he looks to inject quality into his squad.
Worthington has already spoken to Spurs manager Martin Jol but is waiting for the Premiership club to return from their tour of the Far East.
Marney is in the Tottenham squad in South Korea and Worthington is anxious to strike a deal to take the midfielder to Carrow Road.
"Dean Marney is a player I admire greatly," said Worthington.
"I have spoken to Martin Jol at Spurs about the situation. The boy is currently part of their group out in Korea and Spurs will assess his situation when they come back.
"Then, and only then, will we find out if we can bring the player in on loan. We'll just have to see how that one develops."
Marney made eight appearances for Spurs last season, following a loan spell at Gillingham, and he is rated highly in North…
SELL HIS FATT ASS TO NORWICH, THE STUPID PRICK, YELLOW IS HIS COLOUR.
DAWSON COST US GOALS LAST SEASON. HE WAS AT FAULT AGAINST THE SCUM. THE LANKY PRICK. HIM AND HIS FAT MATE REID SHOULD FUCK OFF BACK TOO NOTTINGHAM WERE THEY CAN START A FREAK SHOW
1st year in Spain he scored 20 goals, followed by 18 goals, I've double checked on a calculator and can't make it add up to 50, I can only get 38. Sent this to Carol Vorderman IN THE HOPE SHE CAN HELP ME!
This tally does include cup-goals also.
