If they do decide to sell, I think it has to be Brown. I would be dissapointed if we got rid of Davis. I think he has a lot to offer and we haven't seen a lot of him. Brown is a good, solid player, but he doesn't exactly set the world alight.

good signing will be great addition to our young squad and hopefully will have respect from them too as he's been there done it and knows what it takes.I still dont believe it until i see him in the shirt tho

I'd like to see Davis go, and Boa Morte come in. Not adverse to seeing Brown leave, if we get one of Wigan's young talents that have been mentioned.

I think Brown is practically a done deal with Wigan. But I think we need to offload at least one more midfielder and I reckon Sean Davis will be that man. Where has he been all preseason?

I know there was talk of him going back to Fulham, but Everton are meant to be admirers also.

I'd keep Tanio and Mendes - that should be enough midfielders with our young guns waiting in the wings for any injury crisis.

I think that Davids will be a great player alongside carrick with davis and brown as backups.

This is great news for the clubs profile and great for martin jol who just last year could only dream of managing a player he so much admires. Mendes I guess will be understudy for Carrick, but will we be able to hold onto or indeed want to keep both Davis and Brown, both of whom on their day are combative midfielders. If we sell them we can perhaps buy a raiding left winger and left back as understudies for Reid/Ziegler and Edman

Some negatives on other chat sites; but when davids joined Barca in 2004 the medical staff there said that he was the fittest player they've ever dealt with. He's got a terrific shot as well and scores important goals.

I reckon the general opinion is Davis & Brown, nothing against them but why would we get rid of Taino and I think Mendes is a far better player then the two of them and a better professional so Jol will keep him.

Four centre mids, 2 RW and 2 LW now though I do suspect the Boa Morte story is credible as Jol has made no mention of replacing Atouba so more then likely sees Ziegler moving to FB.

On the downside I've just entered my dream team and we sign Davids a day later!!! For Fucks Sake!!!

We can assure you that he has signed a pre-contract like every player at a club does before he joins.

The pre-contract is a contract that states the exact figures of a standard contract with the exception that the club can terminate it if the player fails a medical.

We were informed that Brown is in talks with Wigan.

Everton are hot on the trail of Sean Davis but do not want to take him on a permanent deal as they fear for his injuries.

Obviously davids is a great signing for spurs, but is he what we need? as far as experience and leadership goes, hes about as good as you could get, and he is a fantastic player. But he is not a goalscoring midfielder, which we are crying out for, thus putting more pressure on the wings to score, and im sorry, but boa morte is shite! and simply not a good enough target for us.
Even after ive put a negative slant on this, i am still very excited about this signing , especially as he was free. What a squad!

it is the best news since jurgen - but when he came, no one followed, infact it was all a bit sloppy and we were'nt really thinking about the future....but where davids slots in, makes so much more sense he offers more stability and if he can adapt to the sheer pace of the premiership comapared to the slower game in italy, stay fit...we have the makings of something special....its all good...

now, on the subject of good - what is all this in the news about baptista having agreed a deal with arsenal? - why would he want to go there anyway? - if we could get him, sell kanoute, sell brown (although he's got a lot of spirit, hes not really premiership quality).

Davids signing represents the ambition of Daniel Levy in order to put this club back into the football map of Europe.

I think Brown (as much as he has got a big heart and loves the club ) as he is a limited ability player will be sold or even a swap with Nathan Ellington is a possibility or so we hear.

Now i seriously think all we need is Boa Morte to add some pace and power to our left hand side and Spurs are well and truly on their way back.

Carrick wil be our holding midfielder and Davids our playmaker/monster. I don't care who leaves out of Mendes, Davis and Brown. Whoever we get the best deal for.

Davids is a beast on midfield, as an ajax amsterdam supporter i've seen him dominating games against top European teams; he was the driving force, even at a young age. I am sure he will take our beloved Spurs to greater heights in terms of coaching the young lads. And who needs a scoring midfieldplayer when you have FOUR proven strikers?

I think the signing of Davids is for 1 season,the reasoning is to get into the champions league, this will then make us a more attractive place for other class players to come.

We haven't heard anything from any sources regarding Davids being our next captain, so we think that King will remain our club captain at least for the foreseeable future.

Tottenham could have jumped the gun in announcing the capture of Edgar Davids from Internazionale.

Spurs said on Tuesday that Davids had agreed to move to White Hart Lane, where he would undergo a medical and finalise personal terms on a free transfer from Inter.

However, Davids' lawyer Rob Geerling says that several British clubs are still talking to Inter over a move for the tenacious Dutchman.

Middlesbrough and Everton are also thought to be trying to sign Davids, and Geerling says the 32-year-old has not yet made a final decision.

"Edgar has offers from several British clubs, who are talking to Inter," said Geerling.

"Edgar is waiting to see what is happening with those clubs."

Although Spurs do seem favourites, Geerling hinted that the lack of European football at the North Londoners could yet act against them, with both Boro and Everton involved in European competition.

i think he will be class, even if he isnt at his best on the field think how much impact he will have on the younger players and how much more confidence he will give them, surely thats woth 4.5m in itself?

You could say the same about other players, like mendes, he gets paid 25k ish, so technically he is costing us a couple mill each year!
as is every other player!!!
