We Missed Out On Figo

Liverpool have agreed a signing on fee with Figo. The only glitch now is that Real Madrid have decided to ask for a transfer fee but have still to decide on the amount they want Liverpool to pay for the player.

That to me is good & bad news. It's bad news that we won't have Figo playing for us next season, but it's good news that at least we'll get to see Figo playing in the Premiership.

For me, the guy has still got it all (along with a stunning wife). Many say that he's past it, but I am sure his performances next season will prove all of you wrong.

I just hope he doesn't turn up when we play them!

Just an input from midfield in the scoring dept and Defoe and co to realise where they are and what a fantastic opportunity they have to finally get us there and we will be laughing all the way to Europe.

Yes i bet Bolton Man city and Middlesbrough just missed out too eh? im sick of all these false links with 'big name' players, it doesnt make us look good it makes us look pathetic, always being linked with players who would never join us anyway. This is the reason we get all the young and so called 'ones for the future' players. And this is not the first time remember Ronaldo(Madrid) saying he would like to play for us one day? and Rosicky? Davids? Morientes a few years ago??Vieri aswell?? Seriously who comes up with this crap?

  16. I'm surprised Figo isn't going to that massive club Newcastle - the massive club with the 100 million pounds mortgage based on future champions league matches (whoops!). I heard they are looking at Defoe now because they are such a big club and all that, they can buy anyone they want. I don't think Jermaine will fancy playing 1st division footbll opp north in 2006/7 though.

    Up the Spurs! Daniel Levy is getting right. Keep the faith.

    He has been available.

    If a player is available and you either go in for him or not and then another club signs that player, you have missed out...right?!

    It has been strongly rumoured that we were in talks with his guys over a deal.

    That was only a rumour, but there may have been truth in it. Who knows?

I had heard this rumour a few times, looks like it is going to happen, makes sense as Ronaldo will go to Real madrid, Ronaldo from real Madrid will go to Chelsea, thius Man U need a striker, also SWP will be playing for Chelsea, Kanoute to City, Keane to Newcastle, Gardiner to Charlton & Brown to West Ham
  27. The "Defoe to ManU for 10 mil + Saha/Rich" is a load of crap. It has been spread only on this site and probably by the same chap each time. Probably some pimple faced 12 year old.

    As for figo, it was never going to happen, we wouldn't have forked out for his wages and he only has 1 or 2 years left to play in the CL - not gonna happen at Spurs.

    It would have been great though, we do need 1 or 2 quality players with plenty of CL experience to bring our youngsters along, they can't teach each other.

    The reason Spurs are constantly linked with big name players like Figo/Davids/Ronaldo is that not only do we have more tradition and history than most clubs and have often in the(distant)past made big name signings but we have also been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market over the past few years.

    Spurs must stick with the youth policy but when the opportunity to sign somebody like Figo/Saviola comes along we must at least look into the possibility of signing them…

    We also believe that it will not happen. Jermain Defoe is extremely happy at Spurs and loves London life.

    Manchester United cannot afford to spend £10 million on him at the moment. They can't afford to spend £10 million on any player.

    The rumours that Brown, Keane & Kanoute are to leave may have substance.

  35. sorry, just got to say, wright-phillips will never play for us. as much as we would love to see him on our wing, as much as he could do very well at WHL, as much as man city need the money, there are some huge blockers in this never-gunna-happen deal.

    1. we have now routledge, lennon, stalteri along with others signed last season for the reserves who can cover the right wing nicely. the money taken to get SWP is more then any sane manager or chairman will pay in our position.

    2. SWP loves it at man city, they raised him from a nobody and he knows he owes them and loves paying them back with his perfomances and loyalty.

    3. possibly the biggest blocker of all, have you all really forgotten how we threw bottles at ian wright? the hate we had for him and the hate he had for us, the way we made his life a misery at every step of the way every chance we got?
