We May Sign Another Player

We were informed late last night that Daniel Levy is in negotiations to sign another top-class player.

We have no details apart from that the player in question will break the clubs previous transfer record of the £11 million we paid Dynamo Kiev for Rebrov.

After the great signing of Dutch superstar Edgar Davids yesterday, we were informed by our source (the same one that told us about Davids joining) that another player is currently in talks with Daniel Levy.

We asked for a name or at least a clue to this mystery player, but were told that no information could be given at this point.

As is the case with many rumours that come our way, we post them in our articles, but always take a large pinch of salt along with them. We made the same mistake with Davids. Some of the THBN team, myself included, didn't believe that he would sign, but he has.

Many of you are unsure if Davids has actually signed as it has been mentioned that he has yet to pass a medical or agree terms.

The above statement is partly correct. Like all professional players joining a club, they are required to sign a pre-contract that can last from one till one-hundred and eighty days. The pre-contract is the exact same replica of the contract the player will sign, with the difference that the club has the right to terminate the pre-contract if the player fails a medical.

Edgar Davids has signed a pre-contract and will undertake his medical at Spurs Lodge today at 10.00am London time. He has never had any trouble with serious injuries in the past and was deemed to be the fittest player Barcelona had ever carried out a medical on. So fingers crossed, everything will go smoothly.

We do not have any details on his contract as yet. Some media sources like the Sun have stated that he will be paid £60,000 per week. We find that statement to be false as the Tottenham board will not allow the current wage structure to be broken until the club are in the UEFA Cup. Of course the club could make an exception for a world-class player, but we are fairly sure that he will be earning around the £48,000 per week mark. Davids has signed a pre-contract for twelve months with an option of a further twelve months.

We have recieved other feeds regarding Michael Brown's iminent departure to Wigan. Reports suggest that he is either in talks with them or that talks with the newly promoted club will take place this week.

We can also expect Sean Davis to make way also. Everton were also scheduled to hold talks with Edgar Davids, but after his length chat with Martin Jol, he decided there and then to sign for us. The Toffee's are now thought to be after Sean Davis so as to fill the void left by Gravesen.

The THBN Team would also like to say a massive hello to one of Spurs longest serving supporters, Manolis, who is currently in Bahrain.

  6. Lucio for me is the only world class centre back at the moment, but he is worth more than £25 million, a figure we think is beyond our transfer budget.

  18. I hope the story about buying someone more expensive than rebrov is not true. Keep the money, we will be better off spending them once we get to europe. There will be more selection of star players to choose from.

Im just getting really nervous that we havent actually signed edgar davids....the guardian report saying his representitive is still considering other brithish clubs, I cannot see (even the lure of european football) why he would go to any other club other than spurs right now. Ok - A little biast perhaps but, with jol there and the chance to work with some of the brightest young talent in british, and european (and egypt) footballers must be a draw....the sheer momentum at this club has to be a deciding factor....and dont forget, we've already won a trophy!!

    so, as far as the new signing goes, for over 11mil its really gotta be a striker and id be thinking its someone to replace kanoute, as he doesnt seem to have the fire in his belly that he did 3-4 years back, remember when he beat players....

    and if its not baptista...u'd think it would be a big man...or maybe andy johnson....transfer speculation has quietend down a bit around him, but hes still keen to move back to the pre…

    We post what our sources tell us. Most of the time it turns out to be correct, like the Davids, Arnesen & Routledge cases.

    But sometimes we are miss informed.

    We doubt it will be Owen as he earns in the region of £75,000 per week. We doubt he would take a massive pay cut in order to play for a side that wasn't in the Champions League.

    We have asked repeatedly who the player is, but we are not getting any response.

    As soon as we know something, we will post it.

  62. Why do we need a centre half?? the back 4 were mainly consistent last year - better than in previous campaigns. Even with Robinson out, Cerny looks a good no.2 - Dawson is learning. Pesonally I would start with Naybet and King - dont know enough about Stalteri so would start with Edman and then at right back you have to play the bloke who is about to oust Judas for the republic right back slot, altho people are still forgetting about Pamarot who never let us down!

I reckon we're signing sneijder Jol has been so outspoken about the player in the press, he's supposedly the next big dutch master so probably the hype surrounding the next signing is centered around him... quality player but at only 5'7 and built like a streak of piss not sure he'll be able to cut the ferocity of the Prem??
