You looked very very average for 60 mins and in my opinion Routlege is far too lightweight, Mido is not good enough, Defoe is struggling with form, Mendez is not good enough and Carrick can only go sideways. It could be a very long hard season for you. The one shinning light was Davenport but, will he be first choice centre back ?

Did any of you Freddie knockers even watch Spurs last season? OK, he aint Ronaldo but he was definately one of our best players. He didn't score enough but he made more than his fair share. He can play with any of the other three strikers, whereas we all know that Keane and Defoe cant play together. We would be made to sell him. Can you imagine the team without him? Dan82, there aint many teams who have two strikers that score 15+ each in the prem. Our strikers did well enough last season and pretty much scored all of our goals between them! It's the lack of goals from the rest of the team, especially midfield, that is our problem.

To get into Europe, we need our strike force scoring at least 35 goals between them.

Kanoute scored 7 last season. Nowhere near enough what he is capable of.

Defoe can't score more without having a midfielder that can link up with the attack (attacking midfielder).

I think many of you are right though in saying that with the wingers we have now, we may see a new side to the lacklusture Kanoute.

We desperately need an attacking midfielder. Guti would be ok as he can play in various positions.

I still say that we should go in for Rosicky. He may be a little light weight, but he is absolute quality. Mintal would also be another great signing.

Kanoute can do for Defoe what Niall Quinn did for Kevin Phillips, and we all know what a waste of space Phillips has become without his lanky strike partner. If we do decide to sell Kanoute we will definitely need to try and persuade Crouch to come back to WHL.

To Poshspur and the rest of non-fans of Kanoute, I have to disagree with you.

Kanoute will be a lot better this season for us because when we have crosses coming in from the flanks, he will be there to catch them with his chest. Our lack of width in the past forced him to play a bit wider, mostly to the right to find space.

We will see him scoring more goals and getting more assists when he can spend more time in the box.

I agree that we'll have more crosses coming from the right, but what about the left? I like our 'wide-man' Reid, but he doesn't zoom along the touchine whipping in crosses. Jol says he wants more pace in the team and we tried to sign Downing. I wonder if we might try to bring someone in to play on the left before the transfer deadline.

Many of you do not seem to realise that you don't need each striker to reach double figures.

Chelsea finished first with their strikers getting a combined total of 27 goals.

Arsenal finished behind them with their strikers getting a combined total of 42 goals.

We had a higher total than chelsea's strikers with a total of 33 yet still finished 9th.

What we need is goalscoring midfielders not to get rid of our strikers. Considering the rotation system the goal tallies for each of our strikers last season was good - and these are only league goals not cup.

Defoe: 13
Keane: 11
Kanoute: 7
Mido: 2

We should be keeping the strikers we have and working on the midfield not trying to get out a strikeforce which rival managers are continually mentioning as a main hurdle when they play us.

Kanoute is far better then Dean Ashton and Crouch has the worst first touch I have ever seen how the hell did that guy make the England team!

Like someone said earlier now we have wingers and Teemu is in the team we have a better balance we should be able to keep the ball better.

Mido is good but holding up the ball is not his forte, he may be able to score with his head from crosses but the long hoof up field from the keeper he does not win, on the other hand Keane who just ducks under the ball not even giving the defender a hard time. Kanoute is a key element to the team his assists and ball winning is vital.

This season will see more goals if we can get a certain left winger to lose weight and get forward attack on one wing will not cut it.

I don't think anyone will leave, Jol stated the other day that we needed 4 top-class strikers which we have. Personally I think he'll be trying to tie down Keane for the Summer as our 'new signing'. Those who don't rate Kanoute, im sorry you're ignorant of what he does. He is a supporting striker, he is the target man and if you can name a striker much better than him in the Premiership at holding the ball up then I would be surprised. Last year he was essential to our style of play, what we lacked in midfield creativity (where our real problem lies) Kanoute made up for by holding up the ball and setting up tight inter-play with Defoe. With Routledge, Reid and maybe Lennon we will be attacking far more on the wings, crossing more regularly and scoring more goals from those positions.

I personally don't think we NEED anyone, what we would like is an experienced Attacking Midfielder but we just don't have the reputation at the moment to attract anyone near…

We haf: Marney (2) and Atouba, Brown, Mendes, Reid and Ziegler all on just (1). It's not rocket science what area of the team we need to work on.

Freddi is one of the best players at the club. We do not have anything better than him at the moment, and it will be difficult to get someone better than himin the absence of Europe.

Give kanoute a chance this season. He started off under Caques Santini last season, not his favorite man im sure,but under jol he seemed to up his game - especially after lpool,carling cup. He has that bit of flair that we severly lack, and he scores the odd screamer. Let defoe bag most of the goals and get the midfield to chip in. Hopefull tis tainio fella adapts quickly and sorts us out. He looks like he could be riise's long lost brother if u ask me.

Our biggest problem is that we never really seem to know how to open up our opponents, and constantly feeding long balls to the forwards won’t get us a top six finish. It was quite clear from watching Spurs last season that our strikers were having to make chances for themselves. There was a complete lack of playmaking. Our midfield has always lacked a cutting playmaker. We've signed many players trying to fill this gap, but the fact is, great playmakers are an absolute rarity.

Our strikers are not to blame. Hopefully with increased breadth across the pitch, Routledge and co can provide a better service to our strikers.

Looking at the league table last season, do you seriously think that Bolton, Boro and ManCity will beat us to UEFA again? Definitely not all 3 of them?!

We are already a match for (if not better than) Everton, Liverpool (they have many new players coming in so I dont know how much they have really improved. But dont forget we drew both our matches against them)and the Toons (they will start their traditional infighting by Oct).

I've never been lucky enough to enough to go to WHL but got to seen Pirates beat Spurs in Durban, and the reason we lost was simple, not enough balls (nuts) in midfield. I dont think we should get rid of anyone, least of all Brown.
