Defoe Happy & Kanoute Wants To Stay

Most Spurs fans want Kanoute to leave? You're having a laugh. Most Spurs fans understand how important Kanoute is to Spurs. You think he is lazy and ineffective? He only had 4 assist? I agree with the last comment. I dont know what games you have been watching but Kanoute has worked his socks off all season for Spurs. Long may he stay and maybe you should try watching a few more live games insteadof just watching the TV....

I cannot understand why so many do not see the value of Kanoute to Spurs. Sell him and we may just regret the day if he ever plays against us.

What a crap post!!! Kanoute is one of the most valuable to Spurs, Defoe plays best off him and not many in the prem can hold the ball up as well!! Unless you idiots would rather see Peter Crouch, Andy Johnson or Marlon Harewood at the Lane then stay off Freddie's back!!

Stats on Keane and Kanoute's records for spurs (starts+sub, goals, starts per goal):

Keane: 98+20, 46, 2.13
Kanoute: 52+20, 21, 2.48

Neither are as good as the incredibly prolific Defoe (49+10, 29, 1.69), but both are perfectly respectable. In my view a club at our level (going by our premiership finishes in recent years) is pretty fortunate to have one striker as good as Defoe, but we can't realistically expect to recruit and keep 2 or 3 of that quality. If we get rid of Kanoute and/or Keane we're not likely to replace them with significantly superior players.

For what it's worth I'd say Keane is a slightly better individual player than Kanoute, but doesn't seem to go well with Defoe owing to the midget factor - either Keane or Defoe is more likely to score alongside Kanoute than when playing with each other.

More on the stats theme - this debate about strikers is missing the point. If you look at the clubs between 5th and 10th (the bit of the league we're likely to be competing in over the next couple of years), these were the leading strikers in 04/05:

I agree with the above comment, goals from our midfield players are scarce, this is a problem for a team trying to contest for europe. I would much rather have Kanoute than Andy Johnson, although at times he is a frustrating player to watch. What is the talk concerning Chritian Vieri coming to the lane??? That would be a terrific signing.

kanute is the proberly the best conroller of the ball in the premiership and is a target man- if he goes, we will miss him.

Kanoute sold is all good but which player can hold the ball up for the sharp finishing of defoe? Crouch? Ex-spurs youth. We released him for a reason. Who else is there? Diego of porto in midfield, he has loads of Skill, pace, creativity. Even Kanoute could finish off his clever through balls.

I agree with push .Kanoute may not offer more next season, also Keane wants to go out of the lane , my opinion is Defoe and Mido will be terrefic next season but Mido should take more chances to starts. he is tall,strong,fantastic in air.Jol should starts always with Defoe&Mido, if Vieri come to spurs will be great addition(but really i doubt vieri come). Be Patient all spurs ,next season carries more.

You lot who don't like Kanoute, should see the way he controls the balls that are lobbed up the park. No one , absolutely no one in the top the flight, can take the ball on the chest like him. He does need to score a few more though. I say keep him.

Gaz.. Kanoute to me is a dark horse. My god he does some great things. And some incredible things. But he also makes his share of mistakes. Maybe we should cash in on him. Not cos i am anti kanoute.
