Are Spurs Lining Up A New Sporting Director?

Feyenoord's Technical/Sporting Director Mark Wotte was spotted in the Tottenham Hotspur director's box at Reading on Saturday.

Wotte, is seated on the bottom row, and is the smartly dressed man sitting in the middle of the three gentlemen.

His appearance in the director's box cannot be a coincidence. As we reported last week, Spurs coach Martin Jol is a keen admirer of Feyenoord's prolific striker, Dirk Kuyt. Jol denied that we were in for Kuyt, and so we at THBN believe him.

But we know that Levy is on the lookout for a new Sporting Director since Frank Arnesen's departure to Chelsea.

We have been informed that Daniel Levy asked Martin Jol who he would prefer as the new Sporting Director. We do not know if Jol specifically asked for Wotte, but we do know that Jol asked for a Dutch Sporting Director to be installed before the start of the new season.

Could Tottenham be preparing Mark Wotte to take over from Frank Arnesen as our new Sporting Director? We at THBN hope so.

The astute Wotte has transformed the fortunes of the Rotterdam club, bringing in player like Salomon Kalou, Danko Lazovic and Sebastián Pardo, who have flourished in Dutch football.

  1. He has not transformed anything to be honest. Feyenoord have been dissapointing for quite a long time now, and I for one would not be to happy if Wotte was appointed...

  3. It would be interesting as he had very little money to do anything at Feyenoord. If Jol wants to work with him, at the moment, I say take it and see how we get on.

    It may assist is getting some of these Dutch names in we have been talking about.

    We are not 100% sure about Wotte.

    The first commentor said that he would not be happy with Wotte?

    If there are any Dutch fans out there, please let us know what we are in for if we sign him.

    We have been informed that Wotte is better at his job than Arnesen was.

    Is now in Charge of youth development or similar at Feyenoord

    So They "maybe" have a replacemnt for Wotte lined up.

  14. thbn who exactly are your informants? Rather than ever actually knowing anything you merely seem to put your own slant on stories already available on the net.
  15. We have drawn the conclusion that Wotte is better because our source has made a very valid point.

    If you compare the money brought in on players Wotte/Arnesen signed and then cash up the sales of these players, Wotte has made a bigger impression.

    Arnesen has had a massive turnover of players where only 2 out of 14 have developed into something special.

    Wotte's turnover is much less and has had more players turn into first teamers.

  21. if wotte was better why is he not a chelski now? thbn come on, arneson was the bollox....track records reflects that as does checlskis desire to tap him up. they want the best and they can afford the best, so they got him.

    wotte might be a good replacement, but as you yourself acknowledge, our knowledge of dutch footie limited........

  23. we're in a much better position now than we were 12 months ago. so whoever is the new dof will find it easier to attract better players in my opinion
  24. A load of Feyenoord supporters were on Glory Glory and they were very down on Wotte.
  25. Adams was awful at wycombe.Think tech director is as good as it gets for him.

    Funny that the better the player the worse the manager they make.

  28. i think everyone is missing the point a bit yes wotte probably will come but just remember arnesen only joined us because hiddink didn't want to work with a D of F thats why we got him in the first place wether 1 is better than the other doesn't really matter thats like saying owens better than defoe they both have there individual attributes still think something is going on from the other day when you said we may be signing someone big or VDM

  30. As regards on us putting our slant on stories;

    We do put our slant on stories, not all, but most. THBN is a debate site.

    We tell a story, with our views, and listen to your comments.

    That is what we do. Sometimes, we recieve news feeds from various sources and publish original stories, e.g. the Davids one.

    We were first to say that he was about to sign for us.

    We were also first on the van der Meyde story, and Arnesen departure.

    We are not in the business of being the FIRST to discover all the stories, but it's a bonus when we do.
