Spurs newboy Paul Stalteri is convinced Tottenham can emulate his former club Werder Bremen in their bid to turn a squad of talented youngsters into a European force.

The 27-year-old Canadian international joined Tottenham on a free transfer and can't wait to begin his career. He is also looking forward to helping them finish in the top 6th of the Premiership.

Werder Bremen have been impressive in the Champions League over the past couple of campaigns and Stalteri told the official Spurs website: "It was a building process that took two or three years and last year we got to the stage where we had a great side and won the league and cup. It was a fantastic feat and this year was good as well with getting to the second stage of the Champions League. We were right there again but just missed that bit of luck I definitely hope to bring a winning attitude to the team."

Stalteri can play in a number of positions as he went on to say: "I play predominantly at full-back - mostly on the right - but I do like playing in midfield, which is where I play for the national team.

"Sometimes it is fun changing positions and don't particularly have a favourite one.

"I definitely like getting up and down but it all depends on how a particular game is going. I love to go forward and help with attacking, but one of my big strengths is defending.

"I am hopefully a good two-way player who can get involved in the attacks while doing defensive duties as well."

Many Spurs fans are eager to see our new player in action.
