the signings in the last 3 years have been a gradual improvement of the team and the squad in every position. last year we lacked cover at center back at a most crucial time of the season ,it would seem prudent to have quality players fighting for there positions far from worrying about the money spent we should be looking to make more signings . there is still a great deal of dead wood at the club if we hope to challenge the sooo called big four we must get rid of players who not possibly get in there squads let alone there teams ie the fat eygptian he's ,disrespectful countryman and danny one good game in five murphy to name but a few. since daniel levy has been in charge we have progressed from a laughing stock in to a team that even has the so caled 'special one' tiping us as challengers for the title and the ex arse drunk p merson almost crying that we will finish in front of the south london gypsys. dont worry about money we truly have got our Tottenham back.

Forgot to mention, we should have signed Yaya Toure too, was an obviously good player from the world cup and a bargain at 3 million for Monaco, now snapped up by Barca. Him and Zokora could have been our very own version of Essien and Mikel of the Chavs, with any of Jenas, Tainio or Graveson to provide cover, what a squad that would have been!...Oh well onwards and upwards as they say.

My view - Wes Schneider of Ajax is the man we need. A left footed playmaker who scores lots of goals.

On the general signings topic, this year we have been on the trigger a lot faster and have signed 3 quality players so far.

Better than some of the dodgy panic buys of the past couple of seasons, namely Rocha, Murphy and Ghaly. In the same period I feel Lucas Neil (Left
& centre back), Gareth Barry (left midfield and back) and Thomas Graveson (good defensive midfield cover for Zokora) would have been more constructive seasoned squad player signings as well as leaders than the dead wood players I forementioned, and all 3 of them were not expensive. We wouldnt have needed Curtis Davies then as Lucas Neil would have provided extra CB cover and Barry could also cover the Left Back position as well as left midfield.

Still a great time to be a Spurs supporter, especially with our forward line, cannot wait...COYS!!!

I too must agree with the majority of you that have already posted comments on this topic. We have indeed signed three quality players. Darren Bent is growing in stature and ability with every passing season, Gareth Bale - definitely has an exciting future ahead of him, and Kaboul, well only time will tell, but if he can bring to the Premiership the form that caught Martin Jol's attention in the first place, the he too will be an excellent acquisition. I too would like to see a naturally left sided midfielder/left winger join the club, and I hope that by the end of the current transfer window we will have such a player on board, but at the end of the day, I have faith in the club we love, and I have faith in our manager. He has achieved more with Spurs than many of those who preceeded him.
Have faith, my fellow Spurs fans, a very bright future is just around the corner!

Bit more than a squad player I'd say. He's the france under 21 captain and may well be set to take over from Ledders if our current captain can't stay fit throughout the next season or so. If Ledley stays fit and makes himself a regular again, Kaboul may eventually replace Dawson who really needs to reduce his mistakes and come up one more notch if he's to meet the earlier expectations of him. That sort of competition for places is just what the club need both in terms of the highest quality players bubbling to the surface & for the inevitable rotation of players Jol will have to use to get us through all competitions plus a challenge on the top 4.

Definate champions league level strike force and defence. Just got to sort out that upper mid table midfield. Taarabt needs to prove his 'new zidane' label.

No pressure then!

We have just AQUIRED 3 EXCELLENT
PLAYERS.
Go back a few seasons, every 2 years,or less, a managerial change.
The new man would usually go back
to wherever he came from and bring
back rubbish.
We would have a Cup run now and again,and end up middish table, after flirting with relegation.
Winning exactly nothing.
We are now IN EUROPEAN SOCCER
and talking of the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
we have the finest squad of players
allowing for some dead wood,
i have seen for many a year.
And finally, some of the poorest

If, (and I hope this doesn't happen because I think the guy is top draw), Tottenham don't start the season well, how long will the board give him taking into account the investment that has been put in? Although we are not a selling club, whatever we spend with Jol is an investment. We can take so called squad players with potential and turn them into the real deal. Selling when it only makes sense to us. However, I believe that Bale, Bent and Kaboul are great signings.

Ledley can not now play twice a week - therefore with Thursday / Sunday because of Europe and hopefully a decent run in the League Cup we need a third quality centre half . It is the money spent on Bent as a squadplayer that worries me . I rate Berby , Keane and Defoe as better players than Bent .

All we've been told about Pedersen is what most of you have read in the papers.

No one has come forward with concrete evidence stating that MG Pedersen would like to join Spurs, or that Martin Jol is interested in signing him.

What is probable, is the fact that if he was to leave Blackburn, they would ask for a large transfer fee as he is a great player and proven in the Premiership.

With the number of games we're due to play next season, we need three excellent centre-backs. We will have to give Daws and Leds their breaks, definitely can't stretch Ledders after last season's injuries. My gut feel is that Jol with rotate round the 3 of 'em.

It does not take much to be a better player that Dawson!! We definitely needs a third central defender who holds international qualities. An U-21 French captain is definitely a better PLAYER. Have you ever seen Dawson play?! He stops, good header of the ball, and clears into the sky or into the terraces. No intl class, and when they pick him for England I am having a laugh! I am a Norwegian Spurs fan and they have the same bloody ideas here abount how football should be played as in England

It's quite possible to have King in a midfield holding position with Kaboul and Dawson in defence.
King has played there before - especially early on in his career and famously for England against Argentina.

We need to have a decent holding midfielder to protect the back four. Huddlestone needs to be more aggressive, and Zokora is better suited to making runs in to the opponents half.

We need someone like Makelele or Gattuso or Duscher. They're bloody hard to find though.

As for the left-winger issue... every team seems to be chasing a left winger. There's just a shortage of them in the game.

Bent - £13m initial fee (£5m now, £4m in 2008 & £4m in 2009).... the rest made up of performance related payments.....

Kaboul - €8m (approx. £6m)......

We paid £4m for Daws and he had never played in the PL, nor was he captain of the national U-21 side...
