Leadership provides internal clarity |
Did you read the last article?
NO - then you need to go and do it now - Two Tribes
Which group are you in?
That latter group?
I am going to pass on to you something ALL Spurs fans need, but plenty don't have.
CLARITY.
Now, this is IMPORTANT.
There is a knowledge leap to take...
A supporters ‘before’ and ‘after’ mental barrier.
You have to hurdle this barrier to reach the success that is beyond.
Make this jump and you can kiss goodbye to your current strife, you won’t be going back to that.
Are you prepared to make the leap?
Well first off let me tell you some facts.
And please, for your own sake, take these on board.
65 out of the last 70 trophies have been won by clubs with more money and a higher wage bill than Tottenham Hotspur.
That is 93% of ALL trophies,
Do you want to be in the group winning 5 trophies or the group winning 65 trophies?
Do you want to be in the group winning 7% of the trophies or the group winning 93% of the trophies?
Successful people, the people with winning mentalities want to be in the 93% group.
Those struggling with what I call Limited Capacity Thinking are in the 7% group, they just want a trophy, any trophy.
Then they will start moaning we are not winning more.
Why?
Because they haven't taken the mental leap, they haven't understood HOW trophies are won.
Football isn't a sport, it's a business and successful business win trophies when they get to a certain financial level.
Sugar Daddies are banned, they can not pay for players and wages under Financial Fair Play rules, loans have to be paid back.
Clubs MUST be self-sufficient.
Tottenham have been build to be self-sufficient.#
Thanks to the foresight of where UEFA were going, Daniel Levy has built a club that has stolen a march on who our rivals were, the Aston Villa, Everton, Newcastle United of the world.
We now chase the financial wealth of the other Top 6 clubs, we are firmly in that bracket.
The new stadium will closes the gap to Chelsea and Liverpool, but that still affects our wages budget so we still have a way to go to catch what they can pay in wages.
We need UEFA Champions League football for many reasons, all of which bring us financially closer to our rivals and thus closer to regular trophies.
Trophies from being a part of the 93% group.
Income figures show you the problem we are addressing.
Manchester United £581m
Manchester City £473m
Arsenal £427m
Chelsea £368m
Liverpool £364m
Tottenham Hotspur £306m
With a stadium to pay for, how much more income do we have to raise before we can compete with Liverpool and Chelsea on wages?
Manchester United pay 45% on wages, Spurs pay 42%, Chelsea pay 60%, Arsenal pay 57%, Manchester City pay 56%.
Quite apart from closing the financial gap, we have to close that wages gap.
You can clearly see the problem Chelsea are now having, they have had to shelve plans for a new stadium. Unless they increase their income their bubble is going to burst.
If Arsenal continues not to qualify for the Champions League then their income will stagnate or reduce, putting pressure on wages and the type of player they can attract.
Does that sound familiar, role reversal.
It isn't a dream, our chairman is attempting to make it a reality.
That mental barrier for sponsors and commercial revenue has to be breached as well to unlock our future.
That will come from exposure and constantly being in the Champions League.
The path we have followed is the path that will take us to the 93% group.
The better players will arrive, we are on the cusp.
Now is the time to be brave.
That means standing firm on the path we are on.
It means slowly introducing young talent with tremendous potential and growing with them.
It means supporting the club and chairman on that path.
CLARITY
The path to the 93% or the path to the 7%.
Gambling is the path to the 7%, if that, money dictates.
Success on the field does not equate to success off the field, but success off the field does equate to success on the field.
Leicester City, Wigan, Portsmouth, Swansea City, Birmingham City are a testimony to that.
Personally, I have higher aims for our club, so does our chairman.
Do you?
