Well in a turn up for the books 27-year-old (28 next March) French international Antoine Griezmann has announced he is staying at Atlético Madrid. The reason he hadn't announced it before was because the announcement was part of a 50-minute documentary.That is a bit of a first to release information, the start of a trend perhaps. This is not good news for Barcelona who were quite convinced they had him and you would think they would now like to make a big name signing to appease their fans.
Will they now come hunting for Christian Eriksen? Barcelona needs a midfield maestro having lost Xavi and Iniesta. Philippe Coutinho has not been the success centrally they had hoped and talk is he will be moved wide to the wing and a new central midfielder brought in.
The figure we are supposed to have quoted before we will even contemplate talking was reported as £165.79 million (€190m).
Eriksen showed his skill once again by creating the Denmark goal against Peru, His assist was his 17th goal (12) or assist (5) in his last 14 international games for Denmark.
It's not hard to see why the top clubs in the world are interested in him, fortunately though, he is at the best club in the world.
