Spurs tell Everton they are interested in Lookman
According to the Mirror, Spurs are keen on signing 20-year-old (21 in October) Everton striker Ademola Lookman.
Tottenham were watching Lookman before he signed for Everton for £7.92 million (€9.06m) from Charlton Athletic, however, it hasn't really worked out for him.
He was loaned out to RB Leipzig for £450,000 (€514,600) and hasn't ruled out staying there as they are trying to sign him permanently. but that doesn't appear to be his first option. That seems to be to coming home and returning to London.
Both Tottenham and Southampton have expressed an interest in him we are told. The right-footed inverted left winger is under contract on Merseyside until 2021. He has 7 England Under-21 caps (but England never actually play any decent teams at Under-21 level until they reach a tournament final.
He scored 5 goals and had 4 assists in 11 Bundesliga games, a total playing time of 574 minutes. that impressive display helped the German side secure a UEFA Europa League second-round qualifying place,a bit of a come down from finishing second the previous season and qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
New Everton manager has said he needs to get experience of playing back in the Premier League and someone has suggested Spurs are looking at a loan deal, which I do not believe for one moment. We are not in the game of developing players while on loan for other clubs, goes against everything we are trying to do.
I think we can safely say, that if we are interested it is in a purchase and nothing else. The Liverpool Echo are suggesting RB Leipzig will make a £10 million (€11.44m) bid (like they are likely to know what a Geran club are going to do). Birmingham have also offered to take him on loan apparently, not what he would be wanting at this stage of his career.
It's a wait and see what the player wants to do game on this one.
