Despite press speculation Tottenham are not in talks with Swansea City over Alfie Mawson and reports from Swansea are that we have not made a bid, yet at least one member of our national press are suggesting we have and thus website are blindly following that.
He is one of several options, but it is unlikely a purchase will be made until there is an agreement to sell Kevin Wimmer, who Pochettino is happy to keep.
The Times understand an investment firm backed by Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg is considering a £1 billion bid for Tottenham Hotspur. While some are getting excited they might want to remember that Joe Lewis wants £2 billion for the club. Tottenham say there is no truth in the rumours.
The Daily Mirror are suggesting that Everton have agreed a £30 million fee to sign 27-year-old (28 in September) former Tottenham midfielder Gylfi Sigurðsson and will pay him £135,000 a week wages.
The stories of Mauricio Pochettino wanting to sign 30-year-old (31 in October) Argentinian centre-back Ezequiel Garay are undoubtedly journalistic invention. Valencia don't want to sell him and although he hasn't signed a new contract the reports from Spain are that he has no intention of leaving either.
Clearly names are therefore being thrown around to try and impress on Valencia that they could lose him and thus they should offer him more money. How many times have we seen this scenario!
If there have been offers of between £22.13 million (€25m - AUS$37.48m - US$28.50m) and £24.78 million (€28m - AUS$41.97m - US$31.92m) it is highly unlikely that any of them came from us. No doubt we have been mentioned simply because he is Argentinian, while we may have been interested a few years ago, he isn't in the age range we are looking for.
