Ginter, Tour de France and Lesniak

TRANSFER TALK

German magazine Kicker report that Tottenham target Matthias Ginter is set to join Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee of around £13.16 million (€15m - AUS$22.39m - US$17.04m).

The 23-year-old (24 next January) Borussia Dortmund centre-back has turned down more than one offer from the Premier League to remain in Germany ahead of next summers World Cup in Russia. Naturally he wants to ensure he is playing regularly to maximise his chances of being selected.

An excellent point being made in the Tour de France when the lone leader made a mistake because he was tired. The blood sugar not getting to his brain and thus his reactions, his thought process are slower and decision making becomes poor.

The same applies to a footballer and it is why Spurs move sides around constantly. You need to wear out an opposition and have them constantly making mental decisions and constantly concentrating. That wears them out and gives opportunities later in the game when they are not thinking as quickly. The result, late goals.

Slovakian midfielder Filip Lesniak was released by Tottenham after making his first team debut, presumably that was a part of his contract, it often is with youth players. The 21-year-old (22 next May) was on loan last season at Czech Republic side Slovan Liberec and has now joined Danish Superliga side Aalborg.
