Transfer talk: Schick, Ghezzal and Smith

As I have been reporting from the outset Juventus is going to be the destination of Patrick Schick. We made concerted efforts to sign the young Czech Republic striker but when Juventus came calling it was all over for us. The plan is to loan him immediately back before he moves to Juventus the following season. A loan back deal was no good to us.

We have been linked with free agent Rachid Ghezzal many times. The 25-year-old Algerian winger is thought to be close to signing a new contract at Lyon. However, he is still holding talks with other clubs, notably AC Milan, Everton, Arsenal and most recently Turkish club Fenerbahçe. I haven't heard of any Spurs interest for a while. We have either already made our proposal or deemed him not good enough, he has had a poor season in Ligue 1.

Amusingly the dreadful Daily Star have suggested that Bournemouth right-back Adam Smith is set to snub a move bac to Tottenham Hotspur. The flaw in that is that Tottenham haven't made an approach for him so there is nothing to turn down. All we have had is press talk, which quite frankly, is often meaningless.

They invent links, invent stories and then suggest a snub or a player u-turn when there was never any story in the first place. When Lacazette agreed to join Atletico Madrid in March it was obvious Griezmann was staying yet our press got their knickers in a twist over Manchester United and then comes the supposed u-turn.
