Transfer Talk - Believability rating low

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham are reported to have an interest in 28-year-old (29 next March) Portuguese international (he has 16 full international caps) Adrien Silva. The right-footed central midfielder is under contract until 2020 at Sporting Clube de Portugal with an option for a further year. Just like our players, that puts his transfer value at it's maximum.

He has a £39.64 million (€45m - AUS$39.68m - US$50.37m) release clause and it is reported that Leicester City offered £26.43 million (€30m - AUS$44.54m - US$33.58m) last summer which was turned down.

That and his age cast doubts on a deal being struck if negotiations are even taking place. The Portuguese press aren't very reliable, they reported we were going to loan Erik Lamela for a season with a £5 million purchase clause. Anyone would need their head testing if they believed that story. It is A Bola who suggest we want to buy him, the same newspaper the garbage about Lamela was printed in.

The story lacks further credibility suggesting we want to conclude a deal before the Confederation Cup in a week, but hi fee isn't going to rise and he could well injure himself at the tournament so it would be more likely to wait until after the tournament. The believability rating low on this rumour is very low.
