Spurs target to decide his future in a few weeks

Tottenham have previously been linked with 23-year-old (24 next February) Fiorentina winger Federico Bernardeschi, who has now emerges as another wide option for Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Italian international (he has 9 full international caps scoring 1 goal) would cost them in the region of £34.95 million (€40m - AUS$58.83m - US$44.61) suggest Spanish newspaper Sport. He also interests Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan.

His contract is up in 2019 and he has yet to sign a new deal. Juventus have similar criteria to us, accept they seek Italian and we seek English (not exclusively of course). CEO Giuseppe Marotta and Sporting Director Fabio Paratici are always on the look out for young Italian players with great scope for improvement along with the ability ti play in multiple positions.

That sounds like a Mauricio Pochettino wish list too so it is no surprise we are being linked with a lot of the same players.

Bernardeschi will be playing in the UEFA U-21 European Championships in Poland starting on Friday and according to reports in Italy will decide on his future in a few weeks. Juventus are in constant contact but Fiorentina want to sell him abroad.

  1. I would be amazed if DL sanctioned any 8 figure deal at this point that requires a 3 as it’s first number.
This is not the way we do business now (but if Isco says he want to play for us and it’s an $€£85mio issue that’s different).
If anyone has doubts on this subject just take a look at the results of our previous experiences with £$€30 mio+ players.
    Ain’t gonna happen.
Why, cos the risk of upsetting the balance of the squad with ‘maybe players’ simply doesn’t justify it!

    1. While I generally agree, I wouldn't be quite so definite.

Certainly looking to avoid where possible. Open to being convinced if a compelling case were to be made. That's my expectation at least.
