Spurs linked striker suffers injury, awaiting medical news

TRANSFER TALK

Tottenham have been following the progress of River Plate striker Sebastián Driussi for a couple of years now.

AC Milan, Real Madrid and Spartak Moscow were our strongest rivals in January while Valencia, Everton, West Ham United, Roma, Inter Milan, Sampdoria, Marseille and Liverpool have all been tracking him together with Portuguese clubs.

His contract runs until 2019 and has a £13.05 million (€15m - AUS$21.51m - US$15.89m) termination clause in it report La Pagina Millonaria (LPM).

The problem area is that the 21-year-old (22 next February) Argentinian Under-20 international (he has 8 caps scoring 1 goal) striker has third party ownership, illegal in the UK but acceptable in Europe.

Driussi has dual nationality so could play full international football for Argentina or Italy, meaning there would not be any work permit probems.

Téléfoot is a France TV programme shown on TFI and they once again mention our interest but it is Roma who seem to be leading the chase for his signature, not surprising given his third party owner issues.

His agent Gustavo Pedrozo told Romanews.eu that there is no deal with Roma officially yet.

“There is nothing official at the moment. There is interest from Roma and we do what is best for the club and the player. Obviously the lad sees Roma as a big club on an international level and a great opportunity, but I repeat, at the moment there is nothing official.”

Sampdoria and Inter Milan have held talks but there is now a snag though as he has picked up an injury and will undergo medical tests to determine the severity and length of time he will be out.
