Sissoko Today

TRANSFER TALK

It is 6:15 in the morning here with the sun shining and I thought a trawl through Twitter to see what is being said about Moussa Sissoko was the order of the day.

On May 30 I see reports that Moussa Sissoko is apparently urging Spurs not to block a summer exit for him, which is a little strange given the meetings between his representatives and the club to agree an exit strategy for him.

Tottenham want shot of him, he has been a total flop. He didn't buy into the Pochettino way of doing things and didn't want to fight for a place. He seems to be one of these players who believe he has a devine right to a starting spot, a bit like fellow Frenchman Etienne Capoue, who later admitted his mistake.

It is in Spurs interests to do all they can to facilitate his departure and French national boss Didier Deschamps has apparently told him he ought to come back to France to play football ahead of the World Cup in 2018.

We have talk of unnamed Chinese clubs being interested, although I remember other stories suggesting Tottenham had contacted Chinese clubs trying to offload him there, which was never going to happen if he wants to play in the 2018 World Cup in Russia (who should have been stripped of holding it for bribery to get it in the first place).

On 5 June we see a Tweet saying LeJDD claim Marseille will make an opening offer of €£22.03 million (€25m - AUS$37.18m - US$28.02m) for Moussa Sissoko and subsequent reports suggesting Mrseille are almost about to buy him. This is no doubt an embellishment at this stage.

Reports of Manchester United taking an interest are a surprise given he wouldn't be guaranteed a starting spot there. That's OK from man United's point of view but surely not his, unless his ego is talking.

His wages are going to be a problem for Marseille so I don't think they are near to signing him at all. Previous reports suggest he wants to stay in the Premier League in which case he is going to keep his options open and hope a club is going to come close to matching his wage demands.
