Alves rejects Chelsea and Spurs last ditch attempts

TRANSFER TALK

Goal Brazil are reporting that 34-year-old (35 next May) Brazilian international (he has 100 full international caps, scoring 7 goals) Dani Alves rejected a financially larger offer from Chelsea £6.16 million (€7m - AUS$10.3m - US$7.84m) per season to reunite with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, where he will earn £4.4 million (€5m - AUS$7.36m - US$5.6m) per season.

Spurs made a last minute attempt to sign hte former Barcelona right-back and Liverpool were pursuing him as well, but he has chosen City and should be signing for them shortly, when Juventus agree to release him from his contract. That may happen this week many sources predict.

Premium Sport report that Alves actually agreed to join Pep Guardiola in November last year and that he put pressure on striker Paulo Dybala to join City but he rejected the idea.

He is very keen to leave Juventus without any clashes, given he is leaving them after only a year. Juventis had signed him to a two-year deal with the option of a further year.

    1. Experience. Attitude. Winning mentality.

We've already heard that there can be exceptions to our general approach of looking for youngsters when and where real quality and class are involved.

It would be short-term, obviously, but Poch recognises the importance of leaders in the team who have not only been there and done it, but also have the t-shirts.
