Age, contract length, injury issues for Spurs linked winger

TRANSFER TALK

German newspaper Bild are claiming that Tottenham are following 27-year-old (28 next April) German international (he has 11 full international caps scoring 1 goal) right-footed right-sided winger Karim Bellarabi.

The Nike sponsored wide man is under contract at Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen until 2021. Just 2 goals and 6 assists in 16 league games (1,119 minutes - 12.43 full games). That's a goal every 560 minutes and a direct hand in a goal every 139.88 minutes. In all competitions he scored 4 goals and had 6 assists across 19 appearances (1,349 minutes - 14.99 full games). That's a goal every 337 minutes and a direct hand in a goal every 134.9 minutes.

Towards the end of the season he was hardly used after suffering a torn muscle bundle that kept him out for from 12 September to 12 December. He was then out for a further 10 days while be built his fitness back up, missed 3 days in February with a minor wound and 5 days in April with muscular problems. He has had pubic area problems in November 2012 until July 2013, also in November 2013, March and April 2014, February 2015 so at his age is a player we would have to be very sure about before we proceed with any transfer.

His claim to fame is that he scored the 50,000th goal in the Bundesliga and the shirt he wore hangs in in the German Football Museum in Dortmund.

His age, length of contract and injury history would make it a surprise if this were anything more than paper talk.
