TRANSFER TALK

Transfer-Talk-Issa-Diop

Toulouse have rejected media speculation that there have been any offers for 20-year-old (21 next January) centre-back Issa Diop amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, RB Leipzig and Arsenal. The French Under-21 international ( he has 4 caps) recently said he's have to leave Toulouse one day to fulfil his potential.

"Toulouse is my city, it is my club and I know that one day it will be necessary to leave it. will be sad, of course, but I know that my progress will go beyond there."

Transfer-Talk - Alfie-Mawson

Tottenham are also reported to be interested in 23-year-old (24 next January) former England Under-21 centre-back (he has 2 Under-21 caps) Alfie Mawson.

The Swansea City defender was still playing non-league football in 2013 at Maidenhead United and Welling in 2014. he has had a lot of loan spells in the lower divisions also.

The Sun daftly suggest he could be a replacement for Toby Alderweireld if he is sold, yet Alderweireld himself has conformed he is 100% going to be playing for Tottenham next season, still when did the Sun ever bother with facts when they get in the way of a story.

Also Toby Alderweireld is right-footed and Alfie Mawson id left-footed so clearly he is seen as a replacement for Kevin Wimmer and cover for Jan Vertonghen on the left of a back three or centre-back pairing.

The problem is that we need a left-sided backup centre-back who we can rely on to be given plenty of playing time and give Vertonghen a rest. We need them to b a sensible wage, we can't afford to pay everyone £70,000 a week or more. They also have to have the potential to improve and increase in value just incase they don't stay at the club. Basic business practice.

Mawson is under contract until 2020 and picked up 1 yellow card in 36 appearances in which he scored 6 goals. The press have speculated at £15 million (€17.15m - AUS$25.24m - US$19.2m) but that is undoubtedly their usual guesswork. same figure as they are now throwing at Chris Smalling.
