Transfer Talk - Morata and Zaha

TRANSFER TALK

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport report that Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has decided to snub Chelsea and Manchester United and has instead agreed to join AC Milan. The British press have predictably mentioned Arsenal but they have never realistically been in the running.

The Italian league is a league he knows well having spent a successful period at Juventus. Milan are to pay him an annual salary of £6.5 million (€7.5m - AUS$11.28m - US$8.41m). That equates to £125,000-a-week.

A fee has yet to be agreed between Milan and Real Madrid but it is thought the Italians have offered £51.97 million  (€60m - AUS$90.20m - US$67.26m).

The reports that Tottenham were cooling their interest in Wilfried Zaha turned out to be true and I'm not surprised given the suggested transfer fee. I did a post on the output of three of our transfer targets, Douglas Costa, Bruma and Wilfried Zaha and the Crystal Palace man came comfortably bottom of the pile.

RECAP PER 90 MINS

Goals: 1st Bruma, 2nd Costa, 3rd Zaha
Assists: 1st Zaha, 2nd Bruma, 3rd Costa
Pass Completion: 1st Bruma, 2nd Costa, 3rd Zaha
Key Passes: 1st Costa, 2nd Bruma, 3rd Zaha
Shooting: 1st Costa, 2nd Bruma, 3rd Zaha
Accuracy: 1st Bruma, 2nd Zaha, 3rd Costa
Successful take-ons: 1st Bruma, 2nd Costa, 3rd Zaha
Chances Created: 1st Costa, 2nd Bruma, 3rd Zaha

Costa (£25m): 1st 3, 2nd 3, 3rd 2
Bruma (£9m): 1st 4, 2nd 4, 3rd 0
Zaha (£30m): 1st 1, 2nd 1, 3rd 6

Douglas Costa understandably wants to go to Juventus, they are guaranteed titles each season, Zaha is simply too expensive for what he provides and having communicated the message to him that other options are more attractive, plus the fact that we will not match the wage he has been offered at Palace, he has signed a new deal.

I can't say I'm disappointed, talented yes, but he doesn't strike me as someone who fits our team ethic and someone who would shine within a unit, he strikes me as more of an individual player.
