Transfer Talk - Kévin Gameiro

TRANSFER TALK

A few websites are linking us with unreliable bookies markets to suggest we must be close to signing 30-year-old (31 next May) Atlético Madrid striker Kévin Gameiro.

He has been a disappointment at the third best side in Spain some suggest after scoring 16 goals the previous season for Sevilla. Only Fernando Torres has taken more shots per 90 minutes than Gameiro this season. Gameiro has scored 12 goals in LaLiga, a goal every 143 minutes and 16 goals in all competitions, a goal every 146 minutes. he has had a total on 7 assists so his figures aren't too bad. Torres only has 9 goals, a goal every 177 minutes and 10 in all competitions, a goal every 220 minutes.

His strength is taking shots from inside the box and he will give up shooting opportunities to create better ones. he averages 2.7 shots from inside the box per 90 minutes roughly the same stats he had at Sevilla.

"Despite the rumours circulating, I'm not thinking about leaving," Gameiro wrote on his Facebook page. "My greatest desire is to continue defending the Atleti colours for many years!! Forza Atleti!!"

Doesn't sound like a player keen to jump ship and join Spurs, but then at his age I'd be surprised if we were genuinely interested, sounds like paper talk to me.
