Sigurdsson looks like all press talk

TRANSFER TALK

Gylfi-Sigurdsson

Gylfi Sigurdsson
is said to be demanding £120,000 a week to sign for Liverpool with a fee suggested at £25 million. I doubt a fee has been agreed and I doubt Liverpool will want to pay him such a high salary.

We certainly won't want to pay the 27-year-old (28 in September) that, £70,000 a week seems a more sensible price. Players for his ability abroad could be signed on lower wages than that, which gives room for wage increases.

I wouldn't have thought he would be interested in coming back to a club where he didn't have a great experience and whom he wanted to leave.

I don't believe Everton have agreed on a fee with Swansea City either, they reportedly don't want to sell him and are opening new contract talks with him and Llorente to stay at the club. Reports from Swansea suggest Sigurdsson wants to stay there too.

You don't agree a fee if a player is not for sale, you don't even discuss ballpark figures and Swansea owner Steve Kaplan has told Wales Online Sigurdsson is not for sale.

"We all know how important Gylfi is, just as he knows how much he's valued and loved here.
"There's been interest in him before - there were some pretty big enquiries about him last summer and in the January window - but we didn't want to sell him then and we don't want to sell him now.
"And neither do we need to sell him. He has three years on his contract and he's part of our plans going forward under Paul Clement. Our aims are to make sure that we build on the successful end to the season and that doesn't include selling our best players."

It seems to me there is much speculation with guesses at wage demands and fee to generate a story, perhaps to put pressure on Swansea to offer him the maximum wage they can.
