German report suggests Spurs asking £17.46m for Wimmer

TRANSFER TALK

Following on from the revealing Tweet (link below) from a source with agents contacts, former page 3 girl turned sports presenter Amy Christophers, that suggested 17-year-old (18 next May) Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon had agreed to join Spurs, I can confirm that the two parties did meet yesterday to discuss a deal.

Moving on to an outgoing player, German newspaper Bild are suggesting that FC Koln (Cologne) will try to re-purchase they player they sold to us on 20 May 2015, 24-yar-old (25 in November) Austrian international (he has 8 full international caps) centre-back Kevin Wimmer.

The transfer fee reported at the time was £4.3 million (€4.92m - AUS$7.39m - US$5.51m) and last July he signed a contract extension until 2021. His full fee would have been £6.20 million (€7.1m - AUS$10.66m - US$7.94m) if all the performance clauses had been met, which with a lack of playing time they haven't.

As is often the case when a player isn't a regular in the first team, other Premier League clubs take an interest. WBA are the latest to ask to be kept informed of his situation, Southampton are tracking him as are several clubs in Italy andTurkish side Galatasaray.

The news from Germany is that he will probably be too expensive for FC Koln to sign him. There is a suggestion Spurs have set an opening asking price of £17.46 million (€20m - AUS$30.03m - US$22.37m) on him, which would be lowered in negotiations but not to the extent that the German side would want.

Wimmer had a meeting with Pochettino in December over his future, he isn't happy just sitting on a bench, he wants to play and wanted to go out on loan in January. His former club have tried to take him but Pochettino refused to release him needing hi for cover in case of injuries.

Given the price we are looking for for him, a later rather than sooner exit might be expected.

  1. Kind of sounds like Levy-logic so probably true.

  2. And Citeh believe they are going to publicly tap up Walker and then announce what they will pay for him in an inflated market after paying£10 million more for John Stones - and all while making it publicly clear that they won't sell to Spurs as they are direct rivals!!??!?!?

Manchester Sheikh's Citeh meet Daniel Levy 😂

  3. Wimmer player CCD vs Kichee after 45 and showed that he can handle this adequately as well as LCD and the transfer of Maguire would cover RCD so that Dier can stick with DMC and CV can have the odd run. So to sell Wimmer who also did very well in the previous season is stupid. he is also the best friend of Son, another reason for him staying.

    1. But Wimmer wants to leave, he wants to play, not sit on a bench and a player who doesn't want to be at the club isn't always healthy for the environment. Kichee aren't exactly top quality opposition are they.

  4. Yep, it doesn’t make much of sense to sell a player who hasn’t had a lot of game time this season but is a regular on the subs bench.

  5. Keeping hold of players, however good they are, that are generally not getting first-team game time can be difficult.

Not always impossible, but often a struggle. We'll have to see how it pans out.

    COYS!!
