Could Spurs be plotting a double swoop?

TRANSFER TALK

Spurs-target-Lucas-Torreira

Clubs inform other clubs when a scout will be in attendance and the list of scouts attending a game are often released to the press, it is a matter of course in Portugal.

Tottenham have been scouting in Italy this season and watching Sampdoria a lot. Whom a scout is watching isn't released, nor are clubs informed, unless an off the record chat is held. The press speculates who the player in question is. They have linked us with moves for two Sampdoria players and given our record of attempting double swoops, could this be another?

My mind immediately recalls Michel Vorm and Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea City and our attempt to sign a couple from Monaco last summer

We have been watching 21-year-old (22 next January) Czech Republic international centre-forward Patrick Schick, but there have also been plenty of reports that we are watching his teammate, 21-year-old (22 in February) Uruguayan defensive midfielder Lucas Schick and Torreira.

Born in Fray Bentos, Torreira joined the youth system of Montevideo Wanderers at the age of 17 but soon moved to Italy. second division side Pescara signed him on 30 January 2014 and Sampdoria bought him on 1 July 2014 for £1.71 million (€2m - AUS$2.98m - US$2.21m) and he has a release clause of £10.24 million (€12m - AUS$17.86m - US$13.25m).

He was loaned back to Pescara immediately and returned to Sampdoria on 30 January 2106. This season he has played 34 games.

Sevilla have asked about him and want the release clause lowered. he has a contract until 2020 and is one of the lowest paid players there, he is refusing to sign a new contract unless his terms are vastly improved, which has alerted clubs there may be a bargain to be had.

Estadio Deportivo report his agent, Pablo Bentancur, has confirmed Torreira would be very much in favour of a move to Sevilla, which suggests he would be open to moving elsewhere talso.
