Breaking News: Man City banned from signing players

TRANSFER TALK

First Barcelona, then Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, now Manchester City have fallen foul of the rules governing the signing of academy players.

BREAKING NEWS: Manchester City have been fined £300,000 by the Premier League and banned from signing academy players for two years.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid all received UEFA bans, Manchester City just a Premier Lague ban, but it amounts to the same thing. This is the same club who breached Financial Fair Play rules which does rather show the disregard they have for authority. Perhaps they think they are above it.

In February they were fined for breaching anti-doping rules and in March fined for failing to control their players after a penalty was awarded against them in a match with Liverpool.

Also in March, they received a fine after a match in February against Monaco in the UEFA Champions League.

That all rather suggests it is part and parcel of normal life at the club.
