When is a foul not a foul

CRYSTAL PALACE 0 SPURS 1

Hope you all made money from the corners bet, looked easy money at Evs for Over 6.5 Spurs corners and was, we had 11 in all.

Gone are the days of proper football when you were allowed to tackle players, now it has almost become a non-contact sport, which was the aim of Michel Platini, himself a skillful former player who felt skill should be protected.

We saw at the weekend martin Atkinson allow Chelsea players to commit foul after foul on dele Alli, play advantage when there was none and not book Chelsea players allowing them to commit more fouls.

We also had Son Heung-min slide across a player and not instigate contact, therefore not give away a free kick. The referee however awarded a penalty. Now I know we have bought penalties in this way, but if you instigate contact it isn't your free kick. What the referee was saying on Saturday was that blocking the path of a ball is illegal.

Final word about the ref tonight all talking about wanyama tackles he missed about 50 from palace!

Jamie Redknapp, Sam Allardyce and Naill Quinn all suggested Victor Wanyama should have been sent off, but why, he never touched Andros Townsend. The replay clearly shows Townsend diving before he tries to drag his leg into Wanyama. This is in effect Townsend cheating.

There is nothing wrong with attempting to block a ball and as on Saturday contact was not initiated by the Spurs player so no foul was committed. It is more difficult when standing but it is clear when sliding. If you don't slide into a player it isn't a free kick so if you slide in front of a player you are doing nothing wrong.

It shows how players are over protected in the namby-pamby football world of today.

What a result tonight boys, great character after Saturday, great bounce back in very tough game, still in there fighting, well done boys COYS
