We can cross Kolasinac off a list he was never really on

TRANSFER TALK

In the Thursday edition of the Guardian was a report that Everton were in talks with the Schalke 04 left-back Sead Kolasinac, whose contract with the German club expires this summer. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international came close to joining Chelsea in January but the latest reports are that he is definitely joining Arsenal next season, regardless of who the manager is. Things change quickly in the world of football.

Clearly his signing is all about wages, given they are unlikely to have UEFA Champions League football and may not even be guaranteed UEFA Europa League football. Normally a player would wait to see what happens but his agreement to sign, unless it is provisional on qualification, which I haven't heard, can only be for money.

With two left-backs on our books and an interest in Luke Shaw the stories linking us with him and as having made a big proposal to him, by German standards, never seemed plausible as regular readers will know.

It is being reported extensively throughout Europe as the result of a piece on Sky Germany, that he has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Gunners. We can cross him off the list.
