Regular football rules out a Tielemans to Tottenham move

TRANSFER TALK

French daily newspaper L’Equipe are claiming that Ligue 1 side AS Monaco have taken pole position in the race to sign young Belgian talent Youri Tielemans. They suggest that Monaco are in 'advanced talks' with Anderlecht.

Ultimately it will be 19-year-old (20 in May) Tielemans and not his club Anderlecht who will decide his next destination. Reports say Anderlecht have valued him at between £17.06 million (€20m - AUS$28.27m - US$21.2m) and £21.34 million (€25m - AUS$35.33m - US$26.50m).

Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham have been keeping a close eye on his progress, as have half of Europe. With such interest he can have his pick of clubs and Monaco might be a stepping stone to a big money move in a year or two.

He will continue to have UEFA Champions League football and will be in a league where there isn't much competition so will continue to get regular football each week, which is a prime motivator in where he ends up. That probably all but rules us out.
