Nothing concrete from Spurs for Özyakup

TRANSFER TALK

The Daily Express have reported that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are both interested in 24-year-old (25 in September) Oğuzhan Özyakup from Turkish side Besiktas. They also throw Italian side Roma and Spanish side Sevilla at the story.

Famed sporting director Monchi is leaving Sevilla and is joining Roma according to Gazzetta dello Sport. Özyakup is a player he has watched and is on his shopping list. The Italian press are suggesting that a £10.20 million (€12m - AUS$16.77m - US$12.80m) bid will be made, not the £12m the British press are reporting. Once again they have been too lazy to convert euros to pounds, just simply changed the sign.

According to Turkish website Milliyet Besiktas want £17 million (€20m - AUS$27.95m - US$21.33m) before they will let their man leave.

Another website Gunes, report the same thing but that the £17m is the release clause they want to put in the new contract they wish to offer him. It also reports that Özyakup wants to leave and have a quote from the Turkish club's Coach Şenol Güneş that he gave to as press conference.

"First you have to understand the players who will finish the contract. At the beginning of these footballers Oğuzhan Özyakup is coming. The star of the 24-year-old contract ends at the end of the next season. While many clubs in Europe are suing Oğuzhan, the management also wants to extend the contract. When the first interviews with the national star passed positively, Fikret Orman told Oğuzhan: "I do not sell you except the big clubs of the world."

The Daily Star laughingly call the midfielder an ex_Arsenal star, well the Gunners sold him for £300,000 so how exactly does selling a player for peanuts make him as a star? The gutter press warping the facts again and they and so many websites do.

Arsenal are certainly interested as their scout, Jurgen Kost, is reported by Turkish Football as saying he could return to them.

OZYAKUP IS A PLAYER OF THE HIGHEST STANDARD, WE HAVE BEEN CLOSELY TRACKING HIS PROGRESS AND WHEN WE DO OUR NEXT SEARCH FOR PLAYERS IN HIS POSITION HE COULD RETURN TO ARSENAL.”

Borussia Monchengladbach wants Özyakup to fill the gap being left by the departure in the summer of Mahmoud Dahoud to Borussia Dortmund report Sporx.

The only mentions of Tottenham Hotspur are in passing, there is nothing concrete from our side it seems.
