Lamela type price for Beradi, Juve buyback clause though

TRANSFER TALK

With the demise of Erik Lamela at Tottenham our search is on for a replacement and we have been linked with quite a few inverted right wingers as a result. Every one we are about to buy according to our sensationalist press.

Tottenham scout a player electronically, they do the sums, look at all the stats and then decide whether a player is worth scouting. Even then, that is still the early stages as we will scout a player over a long period of time to see how he react to different situations.

When we have been watching a player for a while, then you know we are seriously considering their potential. Bruma in Turley is one and 22-year-old (23 in August) Domenico Berardi at Sassuolo is another, we have been watching him for over a year now and have apparently recently stepped up our interest in him. Could that be linked to Lamela having no future at Spurs?.

The Italian Under-19 international, he has 19 caps, scoring 3 goals, played against Poland Under-21's in Krakow, Poland on Thursday and according to Tutto Mercato Web we had a scout at the game watching his progress.

He is highly thought of and is being watched by a host of clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus, his former club. Inter Milan Sporting Director Piero Aid met with Sassulol's Sporting Director last summer and have continued that contact so we know they are interested too.

Juventus sold him to Sassuolo in 2015 for £8.5 million (€9.83m - AUS$14m - US$10.69m) after Sassuolo had sold him to Juventus in 2013 for £3.83 million (€4.43m - AUS$6.316m - US$4.82m). When Sassuolo sold him to Juventus it was in a co-ownership deal and as part of the transfer deal in 2015 that took him back to his former club, Sassuolo agreed to a two-year Juventus buyback clause which obviously runs out this summer. The Sassuolo president Giorgio Squinzi confirmed this to FC Inter News.

Calciomercato recently reported that Sassuolo Sporting Director Giovanni Carnevali has told Radio Raj that Beradi will not be cheap, the usual cry from a selling club.

“Berardi has had a difficult season because of injuries but he’s recovering well. We hope he can become a legend of Sassuolo but if any club want to sign him they will be required to match his price-tag. Forty million? That could be an adequate sum.”

One can only hope that the success of Manolo Gabbiadini at Southampton encourages Berardi that he could succeed at Tottenham.
