With the summer transfer window getting ever nearer clubs are holding talks with representatives to see who would consider a move to what club and chairmen or presidents meet to discuss potential deals.
A player who a club is interested in and is publicly linked with may in fact already have a deal lined up and would only consider other moves if his ideal move falls through for any reason. It isn't always possible to simply go out and buy the player you want and fans not in the know then look for a scapegoat and at Spurs, usually blame Daniel Levy for not completing a deal that was never possible in the first place.
Many a Spurs fan would like us to sign 25-year-old (26 in May) French international forward Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon this summer. he was heavily linked with us last summer and is said to be an Arsenal target as well, West Han United with nothing to offer never had a hope of signing him.
he didn't go anywhere and it may have been because he knew there was interest from Spain and that a transfer ban was preventing him joining immediately. Real Madrid had their ban reduced and Atletico Madrid are expecting to have theirs reduced as well so they can sign players this summer.
Only yesterday there was speculation that he was on Arsene Wenger's shopping list for the summer so it will come as a shock to learn from Spanish sports program, El Partidazo de Cope that he has already agreed to join Atletico Madrid this summer, transfer ban permitting.
The Sports program go into detail on the agreement which rather suggests it is genuine. They say that Lacazette himself and his representatives visited the home of the Spanish clubs owner, Miguel Angel Gil in February and came to a verbal agreement to the transfer after fellow Frenchman Antoine Griezmann recommended him.
That all rather signifies that Griezmann is staying in Spain which will scupper the transfer plans of Manchester United and Chelsea too.
