Spurs contact Rebbe for Head of Recruitment role

Tottenham have been searching for a man to replace Franco Baldini and Paul Mitchell. Mauricio Pochettino has taken on some of the role but the negotiation aspect and the networking can't be done by a manager in the modern game, there simply isn't the time.

We have recently appointed a chief scout, Steve Hitchen, and look now for a Head of Recruitment, who could fill the role vacated by Rob Mackenzie and oversee the aspects being conducted by Paul Mitchell.

German magazine Kicker has reported that Tottenham Hotspur have contacted Wolfsburg sporting director Olaf Rebbe through a middleman to sound him out for the role. Another German outlet, daily newspaper Bild, have claimed that Manchester City are also interested in Rebbe.

The 38-year-old German who had to retire from playing the game at 20 due to a cruciate ligament injury, was only promoted from Head of Sport in January and told reporters on Thursday he would reject any offers.

"That's not an issue for me. Only two months ago, I took on a demanding challenge here at Wolfsburg. Moreover, I demand from everyone here that they commit to VfL, and that includes me, 100 percent."
