Mauricio Pochettino has won 52 of his first 100 games in charge at Spurs

Mauricio Pochettino has just completed his first 100 games as manager/head coach of Tottenham Hotspur and he is proof that not all managers are the same.

If you want to be the best you have to aim high, you have to set very high standards and remove people who can't attain those standards, you do not drop your standards to their level. That is at the heart of why we have had so many managers, although in fairness most other clubs have had a similar turnover of managers.

Liverpool have finished below us in 7 of the last 8 seasons, Manchester United are now consistently below us since Sir Alex Ferguson left. Managers do make a difference. Martin Jol had his supporters, Harry Redknapp had his, but the development of youth was always and equal issue to that of the first team and neither convinced in that role.

Daniel Levy wanted someone to build both with the cost of a new stadium looming, we simply couldn't afford to keep reinventing the side and splashing cash to each new managers requirements. Levy wanted a sustainable future, both on and off the pitch. While fans want one trophy, Levy wants lots of them and you don't build a club capable of doing that simply by building a side to win one trophy, ask Leicester City, they could well be relegated!

Mauricio Pochettino is providing that dual requirement, second for most of last season until the players gave up at the end when the title had gone, we are second again after week 24 of the season. As the building goes on and we look to strengthen the squad in the summer, we hunt that first trophy to kick start the hunt for many.

A quick fix or a long-term fix, while many of you opt for the former, I definitely opt for the latter.
