Kane heads the pack

Harry Kane has shot to the top of the scoring charts with another hat-trick, his second in a week and his third in nine games. Dele Alli chipped in with another, his 50th for club and country at the tender age of 20. It is no wonder that clubs throughout Europe and watching the pair in the hope they can prise them away from Spurs.

That doesn't look a likely scenario with both of them very happy at Spurs and with Mauricio Pochettino building a club to consistently challenge for top honours. Naturally that needs to come about sooner rather than later and with the right acquisitions during the summer transfer window that can happen.

We have young players with potential, but we need that potential to start showing itself. Dele Alli, Harry Kane have both produced from the off, Kane started scoring goals as soon as Tim Sherwood gave him a regular berth at the end of his half-season in charge. Harry Winks has hit the ground running too.

It is signing who can produce at that level from the off that we need in the summer, even if they are young players. Are we buying them with too little experience at the moment? It is a risky business buying potential and I would advocate once again having sports psychologists far more involved in the player purchase side of the club. We are missing a trick.
