Harry 'the Hotspur hero' Kane wins over former Arsenal striker Alan Smith

Not only is Harry Kane at the top of the Premier League scoring charts in the race for the Golden Boot, which he won last season, but he has done so playing less minutes than his main rivals and taking less minutes to score a goal.

Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith who has often been rather biased in his comments before was effusive about Harry Kane and the quality of his strikes against Stoke City at the weekend.

His first was fro inside the area when he pounced on a loose ball, set it up with a touch with the outside of his right boot to move the ball into a shooting position. The shot was into the far corner and was his 100th club goal.

"This is pure quality from Harry Kane. You couldn't really describe it as a full chance, more of a half chance this really. Boy does he take it. It's all a bit messy defensively from Stoke, but that is as clinical as you like from Tottenham's centre-forward."

His second was a strike from the circle outside the penalty box. When the ball came to him from a corner, the quality of his left-footed strike could not be denied.

"Well in terms of clinical finishing, you won't see two better goals perhaps this season. One on his right, one on his left. It goes without saying, this is far from easy. Through the legs of Wanyama but that was going in. Again Lee Grant helpless. That is a beauty."

His third was a deflected shot after Christian Eriksen had rolled a free-lick to him some 30 yards from goal. Before the Stoke City game we had only scored one goal all season from outside the box suggesting we need to work on our long range shooting.
