Tottenham have long kept an eye on young Anderlecht midfielder Youri Tielemans and Dutch paper Het Nieuwsblad suggest he will be leaving the Belgian club this summer.
Tielemans is a talented 19-year-old (20 in May) central midfielder who seems, at the moment anyway, surplus to requirements at Tottenham with the emergence of Harry Winks and the sale of Tom Carroll.
We certainly have an interest in him, but is he really what we need in the summer? There are other priorities. His club manager, Herman Van Holsbeeck, expects to lose his vice-captain.
"As Youri now plays football, he arouses a lot of interest. Actually, it's already extraordinary that we can enjoy all three seasons of such talent. That in itself is a compliment for our youth, but the Belgian club you know you will lose some promise at some time. Tielemans is imprinted on all lists of most promising in Europe and soon he can once more show in Europe against Zenit. A boy who played football for the fun he has become a man with a lot of responsibility. His maturity is impressive and soon he too dad. We know he is followed by big clubs.
"His destination will depend on several factors. Youri knows he can hit very far and has a career plan in his head. He will not go to China, no. In Westerlo there were as many as 100 scouts in the stands.Though of course followed not only Tielemans."
He is however a talented youngster who can score goals, 13 so far this season and 8 assists so with a range of passing there could be a role for a versatile player.
