There are a host of Premier League clubs chasing Argentinian Paredes

Sky Sports Italian football reporter Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Watford, Everton, Liverpool, Hull City, Leicester City, West Ham United, Juventus and Arsenal are all chasing the signature of Roma playmaker Leandro Paredes before the end of the transfer window.

The suggestion is that Roma may have to sell to balance the books and stay within Financial Fair Play regulations. It seems he has to be sold this window which puts the balance of power firmly with they buying clubs.

Luciano Spalletti is the manager of Roma and was asked about Paredes at a press conference. He revealed that he had not asked for the 22-year-old (23 in June) Argentinian to be sold but sometimes players have to be for reasons other than football.

“I did not ask for Paredes to be sold. If there is an analysis of the dynamics of the transfer market and the desire of the player, then that must be asked of the club or the player.
“I think being able to replace a player who leaves is a quality in itself. You are not alone, you must always deal with all the other elements that pass by in life and preparation makes the difference in these situations.
“I think Roma are working well. We’ve sold players with a good future ahead of them, but Roma always had a solid campaign in a difficult league.
“Paredes is a great midfielder, the perfect playmaker. He showed no desire to leave. If the club has to sell in order to balance Financial Fair Play, then that’s another thing to be evaluated.”

Sky Sports Italia reported that Roma were prepared to sell Paredes for £21.31 million (€25m - AUS$35.43m - US$26.75m) plus £4.26 million (€5m - AUS$7.09m - US$5.35m) in bonuses. Reports suggest it is imperative they sell before the window shuts and that is just the sort of opportunity Mauricio Pochettino is talking about when he speaks of finding someone who might be available in January.

Everyone though has the same information, they will all know Roma's financial situation so the player can pick and choose where he wants to go, as opposed to which club offers Roma the best deal.
