Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Everton all sent scouts to watch Nottingham Forest forward Ben Brereton this week. England U18 coach Neil Dewsnip was also present to cast an eye over him.

Forest lost 4-1 in their FA Youth Cup tie at Stoke City in a difficult game for the 17-year-old, but one he will learn from.

Brereton has been in great form, scoring 15 goals in 20 Nottingham Forest Under-23 games this season and Jurgen Klopp has taken a keen interest in him. He phoned Nottingham Forest last week to check on the players availability.

Forest U18s coach Gareth Holmes spoke to the Nottingham Post about him after the game.

"Ben is tremendous. Look at his performance. He never wavered in his application.
"He is a striker who is very rare. He scores goals and is ruthless, but he has an empathy for the team. He wants to work for the team. In the national game right now that type of striker is rare.
"He's got a lot of work to do but he's getting there. He shows potential with his movement, with his intelligence, application and goals.
He’s ticking a lot of boxes. This defeat will disappoint him, but he’ll play in bigger games than this."
