Spurs consider taking Nicolás Gaitán on loan

TRANSFER TALK

Nicolás Gaitán has only played 663 minutes over 15 games, mainly as a substitute, since arriving at Atlético de Madrid from Benfica last June. The Argentinian cost around 25 million euros and he signed a four-year contract.

His lack of game time for fellow Argentinian Diego Simeone has made the 28-year-old (29 in February) attacking midfielder open to a loan move for the remainder of the season and Tottenham Hotspur is a destination that has been mention in the Daily Mirror and the Spanish newspaper AS.

The Mirror reported on Monday that Tottenham Hotspur could make a move to take Gaitán on loan until the end of the season, with manager Mauricio Pochettino considering a swoop for his compatriot.

Sky Sports Spanish football expert, Guillem Balague, doesn't think Gaitán will be leaving Atlético de Madrid this month.

“It is very difficult to adapt to Simeone's Atletico Madrid. A lot of players haven't been able to do it. They have got a lot of hopes for Gaitan, who keeps going in and out of the side but he has to work much harder with the ball to be able to make an impact. At the moment, he is just a super sub, but they don't want him to go in January."

it is suggested in AS that Gaitán is interested in a move to a club with title aspirations and they suggest Simeone might agree to a loan move to a side that plays pressing football, which would help him prepare for Atlético de Madrid for nxt season.
