Adarbioyo to replace Wimmer?

Adarbioyo-to-replace-Wimmer?

Tottenham Hotspur have been taking a keen interest in the situation of 19-year-old (20 in September) Manchester City centre-back Tosin Adarbioyo.

The highly promising youngster has refused to sign a new deal with his existing one running out this summer. It is the age old problem of being at a club with plenty of money, they buy ready made players in and youngsters coming through the ranks simply don't get a chance. It is for that reason that he is considering leaving and is refusing to sign the new contract offered to him.

The future of Kevin Wimmer is uncertain at Tottenham with the players agent saying he will review the situation in the summer and much will depend upon whether his client gets enough game time. We know there is plenty of interest in him as again his agent has revealed Spurs have received several offers, Spurs refuse to sell him mid-season.

That was a sensible and obvious move and given the long-term injury to Kan Vertonghen, clearly the right decision to take.

Tottenham naturally are not the only club following the youngsters situation at City, Everton and Leicester City are watching. North of the border, Celtic want to sign him on a pre-contract agreement for a low fee and as they have successfully done with a few players recently, Moussa Dembele probably being the next, increase him in value and move him on for a vast profit.

Our main selling point is that we play youngsters if they are good enough and he would form a very young backup centre-back pairing with Cameron Carter-Vickers who looked assured against Aston Villa in the FA Cup recently.

He is right footed though and we would no doubt prefer a left footed player to cover Jan Vertonghen. That might be a fly in the ointment.
