Tottenham take on a depleted Sunderland. David Moyes has a huge task trying to turn them around and has brought in two former Everton players to assists his cause, 29-year-old (30 in October) Republic of Ireland international midfielder Darron Gibson and 26-year-old (27 in February) Costa Rican international left-back Bryan Oviedo.

Joleon Lescott, Jack Rodwell and Steven Piennar give the club a real Everton feel.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR TEAM NEWS

Kieran Trippier is out with the hip injury he picked up on Saturday against Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup. Also missing will be Jan Vertonghen (ankle) and Erik Lamela (hip). 

As expected Harry Kane, Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld have all recovered from their minor injuries and return to the squad for the match against Sunderland this evening.


SUNDERLAND TEAM NEWS

Victor Anichebe will miss the rest of the season with knee ligament trouble. The same injury sees Sunderland miss goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Paddy McNair and Duncan Whatmore. 

Jan Kirchhoff will miss the Spurs game with a cartilage problem while Lee Cattermole is out until March with a hip injury. Jason Denayer (groin), Steven Pienaar (calf) and Javier Manquillo (calf) will need fitness tests. 

New signings Darron Gibson and Bryan Oviedo may be available. Lamina Kone and Didier Ndong have returned from the 2017 African Cup of Nations. Wahbi Kahzri is has only just returned and is the subject of a deadline day transfer story so may not be selected if he has recovered from jet lag. He will probably need a rest before playing again. Papy Djilobodji is serving a four match ban for his second sending off of the season.
