Pochettino very keen on Bruma

Tottenham have watched winger Bruma more than seven times this season and are keen to seal a deal for the 22-year-old (23 next November) Portuguese winger at Galatasaray. Their chairman on the 19th of November revealed he had had no contact with Tottenham, which was hardly surprising given we were going to send people out to negotiate after the derby game against Fenerbahce on 20 November. although we did have a scout at that game as well.

Galatasaray are cash-strapped at the moment and therefore want to get as much as possible for Bruma and are holding out for £20.96 million (€25m - AUS$35.47m - US$26.60m). The Turkish club were not allowed to compete in European competition this season because they fell foul of the financial rules that have to be met for European competition.

According to local reports Bruma doesn't want to sign a new contract and the club don't really ant to sell him. His agent Cátio Baldé revealed in November that his client wants to play in the Premier League and is convinced someone will buy him. He also revealed he had spoken to Jose Mourinho in the summer.

He is a player who likes to play short passes and like to dribble, which makes him sound as though he would fit into our system, although he could improve his defensive contribution, something Pochettino would surely instil in him if he signed.

A look at his offensive statistics from 14 Suoer Liga games shows 2.4 key passes per game and 5.3 dribbles per game, although he gets dispossessed a lot, 3.3 times per game. He has 2.1 shots per game.

A look at Christian Eriksens 14 Premier League games shows him making 2.6 key passes a game and 0.8 dribbles, getting dispossessed 1.7 times per game. He has 3.8 shots per game.

We can look at statistics and reports all we like but until we see him in action on a regular basis we fans won't know if he is what we need or not. By all accounts though Pochettino is keen on him.
