TRANSFER TALK

Joe Kinnear and Jimmy Greaves lift the 1967 FA Cup after victory over Chelsea

Happy 70th Birthday today to Joe Kinnear. He made his debut for us in 1965 and made 196 league appearances scoring 2 goals.
If you want to endear yourself to your players then give them Christmas Day off to spend with their families. That is exactly what Mauricio Pochettino did for his Spurs players, not that he needed to get them on his side, they already are. He will be hoping his break with tradition will result in three points at St Mary's tomorrow night against his former club Southampton.

The disgraced former England boss Sam Allardyce, who used his position to try and line his own pocket, is now manager of Crystal Palace, a club clearly lacking in morals. He has identified 27-year-old (28 next September) Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs as a potential signing with the player having a season and a half left on his contract. Whether he tries to sign him in January or next summer we will have to wait and see.

Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof has flown back to Portugal after spending Christmas in Sweden to complete his transfer to Manchester United as soon as the window opens. Apparently, he is going to sign a new contract with Benfica that raises his release clause and then sign a contract with Manchester United for a transfer fee between the old release clause figure and the new one.
