Spurs Transfer Talk: Zaha, Draxler, Kessie

TRANSFER TALK

If the press are to be believed we have made Wilfred Zaha our main priority this coming transfer window once again, after having tried to sign him in the summer. Crystal Palace have no intention of selling though as they seek survival in the Premier League. Currently they languish one point and one place off the relegation places. He is under sontract with them until 2020.

We haven't been too heavily linked with 23-year-old (24 next September) German international attacking midfielder Julian Draxler lately but we are still certainly keen on the Herta Berlin youngster. The problem is half of Europe wants to sign him so our chances are not great. Arsenal are heavily linked, but then they are heavily linked with a lot of players they don't get, like Riechedly Bazoer. PSG are said to be his favoured destination though and they are intersted in signing him.

Football Insider have regurgitated old news that we are about to bis for 19-year-old (20 tomorrow) Ivory Coast and Atlanta midfielder Frank Kessie by suggesting he is the final player recommended by Paul Mitchell.

"Kessie is likely to be the final player the White Hart Lane head of recruitment will recommend to the club as he works the final weeks of his notice."

This sums up this website because as every Tottenham fan knows Mauricio Pochettino announced to the press that Paul Mitchell was serving a 16-month notice period while we search for a suitable replacement. It isn't something the club have imposed, as has been reported elsewhere, but an agreement both parties came to.

“It will not affect us.He is working because, when he presented his resignation, it was 16 months’ notice. He’s doing the same job, because Tottenham pay his salary. It’s difficult to find a replacement and difficult to move quickly. It’s always to protect our club and our interests. It’s not [only] his decision to sign [players], it’s Tottenham’s. But with him, without him or with another person I think it’s always difficult to sign players in January.”

Thus Kessie is almost certainly NOT gong to be the final player Paul Mitchell recommends and such reporting from former gutter press journalists is highly dubious to put it mildly.
