Spurs scouting Bosnian left-back

TRANSFER TALK

We have been linked with him before and we have continured tracking 23-year-old (24 next June) Bosnian left-back Sead Kolašinac.

He currently plays for Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04, where Nabil Bentaleb is on loan and expected to complete his £17-million (€19.81m - AUS$28.30m - US$21.16m) move next summer.

We do seem to be active in the market for a new left-back to compete with Danny Rose so presumably the interest from Chelsea in Ben Davies is concrete and he is interested in moving there. German magazine SportBild are rporting that he is on our list of potential targets, together with interest from Stoke City, Everton, who now always seem to be interested in any player we are and Italian side Roma. There are plenty of reports that Liverpool are pursuing him as well.

Why all the interest? Well, he is in the last year of his contract so unless Schalke can agree a new contract with him, he can arrange a free transfer for himself next summer during the January transfer window. If Schalke want a fee they will have to sell him then too.

Standing 1.83 m (6 ft 0 in) tall, he can play centre-back or defensive midfield, so if Kevin Wimmer were to leave next summer he could provide cover for Jan Vertonghen, being left-footed, as well as left-back, that is if he is considered good enough. He has certainly caught the eye on occasions playing for Bosnia and Herzegovina at left-back. He is more attack minded than Ben Davies.

He had a spell on the bench but seems to now have made his way into the side, playing the last three Bundesliga games. In all competitions he has played 606 minutes and has 5 assists to his name, in the Bundesliga he has played 415 minutes, has 3 assists to his name and 2 bookings. He has started 5 league games and played in 5 from the bench.
