Spurs monitor prolific French U-21 striker

TRANSFER TALK

The Daily Express report that we are interested in 22-year-old (23 next June) Utrecht striker Sebastien Haller. He is not a new name to us, our scouts have been following him for at least a year and probably longer than that.

He is a French Under-21 international who has netted on 13 occasions from just 20 appearances and in the Eredivisie, 45 times in 75 games.

Both Tottenham and Everton plus Italian side Inter Milan have been linked with a January move but Utrecht are unlikely to want to sell their main striker half way through a season without a proven backup to take his place. A move if one were to happen would more likely take place during the summer transfer window.

He is right footed and stands 6' 2" (1.87m) tall so offers an aerial as well as a ground threat. Plenty of strikers come from Holland and not all succeed in the Premier League. Newcastle United brought one and were relegated.

This season Haller has scored 7 league goals in 14 games with an additional 4 assists, a goal every 179 minutes. His price tag is suggested at £7m, which seems a bit cheap for a player who is under contract until 2019.
